Pet Friendly East Hampton Main Beach
East Hampton Main Beach Enjoy some beach frisbee or a casual stroll in the sand with your pup throughout the year at East Hampton Main Beach. Dogs are welcome off-leash anytime in the off-season. From the second Sunday in May through September 30, dogs are not permitted on the beach at all from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, daily. At all other times during the period from the second Sunday in May to September 30, dogs MUST be manually restrained on a leash within areas that are within 300 feet of any road end along the beaches. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and keeping them under control. Plastic bags for clean-up are conveniently provided at the entrance to each village beach. Inlet Pond County Park Inlet Pond County Park offers a well marked trail system (about 1.5 miles) through woodlands, open areas of shrubs and vines, and mature oak forest. Leashed dogs are welcome on these easy to follow trails. The trail leads to freshwater Inlet Pond that has an observation platform with seats. In late summer, hundreds of Bull Frog tadpoles inhabit the freshwater pond. Herons and egrets forage around the edge. The largely undeveloped park stretches across the entire narrow width of the South Fork of Long Island from the Atlantic Ocean to Gardiners Bay and Block Island Sound. The park is located on either side of the Montauk Highway (New York Route 27) on the "Napeague Stretch" between Amagansett and Montauk. Leashed dogs are welcome in the park, but there is virtually no infrastructure or permitted camping. Shadmoor State Park Ninety-nine acre Shadmoor State Park, located one quarter-mile east of Montauk Village, features more than 2,400 feet of ocean beach accessed by two stairways. The park, named for its open, rolling geography and the shadbush that grows there, also has bluffs, freshwater wetlands that are part of the preserve, hiking trails and elevated platforms for birdwatching and enjoying the shoreline views. Visitors may picnic and saltwater fish. A maximum of two pets are allowed in day use areas unless prohibited by sign or directive. Pets are to be supervised at all times and either be crated or on a leash not more than 6-feet in length. Proof of rabies inoculation shall be produced if requested by staff.
