Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome on tours and in the gift shop at Appalachian Caverns in Blountville, TN. The regular walking tour is approximately one hour and 0.5-mile in length. There are three other in depth tours that must be scheduled in advance. When you arrive, please alert the staff at the gift shop before unloading your dog. They will secure the resident cave dog Jeffrey. He is friendly, but can overwhelm some canine guests. Trixie is another dog you may encounter, but she prefers to be left alone on her stack of comfy bedding.

The High Bluff and Rhododendron Gardens Trails are a moderately easy, 3.5 mile hike on Roan Mountain that will take about 1.5 hours to complete with Fido. You will need to visit this trail April through November, since that is when the road to the gardens is open, but the best time is mid to late June when the Catawba rhododendrons are in bloom. Please note that dogs do not need to be on a leash on trails, except in the developed areas, parking lots, and picnic areas; they must be under voice control at all times; small parking fee.
