Dog-Friendly Activities in Sandy, OR

Sandy River Delta Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Troutdale, OR. The trail system consists of 1,000 acres of off-leash trails that lead to the Sandy River where your dog can wade or swim. It can be muddy at times due to Portland's frequent rain. Take I-84 to exit 18, follow the road and cut back under 84, stay straight instead of getting on the on ramp and you will be in doggy heaven! Dogs must remain leashed on Confluence Trail.

Travel to the breathtaking Multnomah Falls in Bridal Veil, OR, to enjoy the splendor of cool water cascading 611 feet to the base of the falls. The dog-friendly trail offers easy access to the base of the falls from the parking area, or hike up the paved trail to Benson Bridge for a closer view of the water. Your pup is welcome to enjoy this hike as long as he remains leashed on the trail.

Bring your pet to play off-leash in this small, fenced, neighborhood dog park inside of Happy Valley Park in Happy Valley, OR. It is covered in grass and mulch with a couple of shady trees. Amenities include double-gated entry, shelters, benches, waste stations, and water access. Note that parking is limited.

Wahkeena Trail Loop is a pet-friendly hike in Corbett, OR. Dogs are welcome to join their owners if they are leashed and well-behaved. This 4.6 has six officially named waterfalls on this trip and a number of cascades and intermittent falls. Start your hike at Multnomah Falls or the Wahkeena Trail head. If you have a harder time with elevation climbs, its recommended to start on the Multnomah side where the trail has more switch backs and is paved. The trail is rated as moderately difficult.

The Springwater Corridor is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Bring Fido to blow off some steam at the Dakota Memorial Dog Park in Vancouver, WA. This fully fenced eight-acre pup recreation area features double-gated entrances, separate sections for small and large dogs, a gravel perimeter trail through the open lawn and forested areas, a rustic log agility course, benches and drinking fountains. A dog rinse-off area is located on the back side of the restroom located on the west side of the park.

Your pet will love to run off-leash in the designated off leash area at Milo McIver State Park. It is an open, grassy space, which includes shady trees, and a water area for Fido to cool off. Be careful as it is not fenced and there is a horse trail nearby. There is also a fee to enter.

Latourell Falls (Upper Trail) is a dog-friendly hike in Corbett, OR. It's a moderately easy, 1.6-mile trek in Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area that will take about 1 hour to complete with Fido. The trail to the upper falls is far less traveled than the lower trail as it skirts around steep cliffs that lookout over the lower falls. Please note that dogs must be on leash.

Triple Falls Trail is a dog-friendly recreation area in Cascade Locks, OR. It's a moderately easy, 7.4 mile hike in Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area that will take about 3.5 hours to complete with Fido. By going to Triple Falls via this less populated trail you will enjoy a little more solitude, and also avoid the slippery passes behind two waterfalls that you would encounter on the other trail. Keep a short leash on Fido since there are some drop offs on this trail. Please note that dogs must be on leash.
