Pet Friendly Dragoon Gulch Trail
The Dragoon gulch Trail is located in the City of Sonora, Ca. Named for a group of dragoons (US Army cavalry soldiers) who once mined the area for gold, the existing trail network provides visitors with a unique opportunity stroll through the Mother Lode’s beautiful oak woodlands. The 2.5-mile loop trail travels along a natural creek up to a vista that provides a spectacular view of Sonora’s Historic Downtown along with the surrounding mountain ranges. The trails vary in difficulty making it the perfect location for both the causal walker and those eager for a strenuous hike. There two entrances with one designated ADA with parking area and paved trails. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trail.
Pet Friendly Stanislaus National Forest
Once a booming area, occupied by gold miners, Stanislaus National Forest is now a dog-friendly natural and scenic escape. Leashed dogs are allowed in the Forest's developed recreation sites. Stanislaus has a lot for four-legged friends to discover, including relics of the gold rush, such as historic sites and artifacts, as well as eight-hundred miles of rivers and streams, pristine backcountry, sparkling lakes, snow-capped mountains, towering forests, canyons and more. Dogs are not allowed in the Forest's swimming areas.

The West Side Rails: Tuolumne City to North Fork/Tuolumne River is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Tuolumne!
