Chapman State Park Chapman State Park is pet-friendly. The area is made up of mature forests and rare plants that hark back to days of old alongside the banks of Potomac River. There are a number of trails for dogs and their owners around the park, including the Potomac River Trail that joins Chapman’s Landing Road to the Potomac River; Marsh Trail that meanders through bottomland woods along the Potomac shoreline; and Coastal Woodlands Trail that makes a loop around gravel forest and a coastal oak forest. If you're planning on bringing Fido with you, make sure they're on a leash under six feet and you clean up any mess after them. Congressional Cemetery Dogwalkers The K9 Corps at Historic Congressional Cemetery is a private dogwalking program, bringing life, community, and volunteerism to this extraordinary burial ground. Dogwalking at the cemetery is permitted by membership only. Membership is annual and runs from March 1st through the last day of February the following year. Prospective members may sign up by clicking on the Waitlist tab on the Cemetery Dogs website. The K9 Corps membership dues provide for maintenance of the grounds and assists with administrative costs. It is organized for the continued support of the ongoing work at Historic Congressional Cemetery through funds raised from donations and each member's ongoing volunteer work.
