Fremont Peak State Park Dogs are allowed at Fremont Peak State Park. The park has a great view of Monterey Bay, San Benito Valley, Salinas Valley, and the Santa Lucia Mountains east of Big Sur. The woodlands in the area are home to lots of different birds and animals. Fido is welcome to join you at certain communal areas at this state park, including campsites and picnic areas. Verde Vineyards Verde Vineyards is a boutique winery specializing in small lot, hand crafted Bordeaux Varietals from their estate vineyards in the Santa Clara Valley. The winery hosts live music on weekends. Dogs are welcome on the covered tasting patio and grounds. Two of their wines, Sophie's Blend and Tess' Blend are named after the owners' dogs. Although pets are not permitted on the beach at Fort Ord Dunes State Park, Fido can join you on paved roads only and at the nearby Monterey State Beach, Asilomar State Beach, Carmel River State Beach, and Garrapata State Park. Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is a pet-friendly destination for motorcyclists, 4-wheelers, picnickers, and campers in the Gabilan Mountains near San Jose. Fido can join you on a leash on the 5 miles of trails located at the end of Madrone camp for hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, and checking out the spring wildflowers. As well as these five miles of trails, there are 13 miles of dog-friendly trails at the Mudstone Ranch, a non-motorized section of the park. The park is open from October 1st through May 31st.
