Best Friends Dog Park Club is open 365 days a year from 8am till dusk. All dogs must show proof of current vaccinations. There is a yearly cost of $49. This needs to be renewed each year, along with your pets vaccinations. You need a key to enter, which you get at time of payment.

Messenger Marsh Dog Park

The Forest Preserve District of Will County's 5-acre fenced Messenger Marsh Dog Park provides an exercise area where dogs can run free. The Dog Park also features a smaller 1-acre park for dogs under 30 pounds. A shelter and benches provide comfort for the canines' human companions. A permit is required for use of the Dog Park. Other amenities at Messenger Marsh include a picnic shelter and multi-use trails suitable for equestrians. Located on South Bell Road, about 0.25-mile South of 159th Street.

Wicker Memorial Dog Park

Bring your pet to play off-leash at this fenced dog park with benches and trees. Although the park does get muddy at times, dogs love to play here. Dogs must be registered to use the dog park. You can register your dog at the Wicker Memorial Park Picnic Office. Current vaccination records and a valid ID must be presented at the time of registration. Annual rates are $25 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog for township residents, $60 for the first dog and $20 for each additional dog for out-of-township residents, and $100 for the first dog and $30 for each additional dog for out-of-state residents. Pursuant to Lake County Ordinance #1244F: Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes are prohibited from participating in unleashed dog parks.

Trantina Farm Dog Park

Located on the south side of 151st Street between Cedar and Gougar Roads. The park is a component of the Trantina Farm, which is the first parcel to be developed as part of Homer Township’s Open Space Program. Funding was made possible in part with an OSLAD Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The Board and Trantina Farm Committee have established the posted rules and provided waste receptacles for park users. The southern portion of the Trantina Farm site is about 20 acres with the Dog Park comprising about 2 acres. The canine park is fenced and divided in two sections: one for smaller dogs less than 15" at the shoulder or 30 lbs. or less and the other for larger dogs. Parking, benches, a pavilion and a mowed, looped trail surrounding the Dog Park are available for horses, dogs and humans. The view from the trail offers wonderful vistas of the rolling terrain and wildlife. While the southern part of Trantina Farm site caters to our domestic friends, the northern approximate 30 acre portion is better suited for humans offering a playground, picnic area, limestone trail, restroom, fire pit, interpretive center, gardens, native prairie restoration, wildlife viewing and historical buildings.

Happy Tails has a big fenced in field and there is a small field for small dogs under 35 lbs. Next to the Metro. The dog park is available to Buffalo Grove Park District residents only. To get in there, pull into the metro parking lot and go all the way to the end, then walk a little ways and there is the dog park. There is free parking as well.

Miller Meadow Off-Leash Dog Area Grand Opening

The Forest Preserves of Cook County currently operates Miller Meadow Off-Leash Dog Areas for visitors to let their dogs enjoy the preserves without a leash. Please note that these are the only locations within the Forest Preserves where off-leash dogs are allowed. Dog owners wishing to enter the Off-Leash Dog Areas must first purchase an annual membership. The annual membership includes one membership card and one key to enter any of the Forest Preserves’ Off-Leash Dog Areas. Annual memberships are valid from October 1 through September 30 of the following year.
