Pet Friendly Ke Ala Hele Makalae
Ke Ala Hele Makalae The Ke Ala Hele Makalae is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Kapaa! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Ke Ala Hele Makalae. Weave a Hawaiian Coconut Hat 'Weave a Hawaiian Coconut Hat' is a pet-friendly Airbnb Experience hosted by Kekai. Forest City Dog Park Forest City Dog Park is a private park reserved for Forest City residents in Honolulu, HI. The park is fenced-in and grassy, about three-fourths of an acre. Forest City Dog Park features small and large dog areas, with double-fenced entry. Each section has a bench, water fountain, trash cans, and shaded areas. Random identification checks are performed to confirm residency. Members can enjoy the gardens and views of Kona, embrace the creations of local artists, all while allowing their dogs an awesome off-leash experience. Dogs must be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. Annual, semi-annual and quarterly memberships are available, as well as $20 day passes for up to 4 hours at the park. Mau'umae Beach Mau’umae Beach is a hidden treasure between Samuel M. Spencer Beach Park and the Mauna Kea Resort. Dogs are allowed on-leash at Mau'umae Beach.

To reach the beach, go to Spencer Beach Park heading North on Hwy 19 turn left onto Hwy 270. Continue 0.4 miles and take the first left onto Spencer Beach Park Rd. Follow the road toward the ocean and go left at the fork. Continue to the parking lot located at the South end of the beach near the campsite and picnic pavilion. You’ll find the trailhead near the picnic pavilion. Walk for about 0.3 miles and you’ll cross a small stream, continue along the trail and you’ll come to Mau’umae Beach.
