There is a separate area for large and small dogs, both with double-gated entrances and separate double-gated exits. Gulf Islands National Seashore
Certain areas of Gulf Islands National Seashore are dog-friendly! Leashed dogs are allowed on trails, multi-use paths, and on park roads. They are also allowed to be tied to fixed objects in the Davis Bayou and Fort Pickens Campgrounds, if their leash is less than six feet long, the pet is quiet, and out of harm's way. Pets must be cleaned up after during their visit. Dog owners can check out Gulf Islands National Seashore's official website to find operating hours and entrance fees for specific areas of the Seashore.
Dogs are NOT allowed on all park beaches and in water less than five feet in Florida; on all beaches of the Mississippi barrier islands and in water less than five feet surrounding the islands; and in the forts or visitor use facilities, such as pavilions, fishing and ferry piers, and visitor centers.

Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center
Dogs are welcome at Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center, where you and Fido will discover a pet-friendly four mile nature trail system. All of the trails allow Fido to wander on a leash with their owners. The Lake Trail is the shortest path in the area at well under a mile in length that loops around the lake. From the Lake Trail, you can access the Bluff Trail through a gap in the fence. This crushed limestone pathway winds through upland woods and along the top of a 70-foot-high bluff, providing views of the old Tombigbee River channel. Starting at the observation deck, the Old Channel Trail gives you the chance to go full Indiana Jones and hunt for fossils. The River and Scout Trails form a loop together, sloping up through woodlands. Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

The Longleaf Trace is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors.
