Hinckley Park is a pet-friendly 40-acre recreation area in South Portland, ME. Dogs must be leashed between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM year-round. The park includes two scenic ponds surrounded by a 3/4 mile walking trail and additional wooded trails nearby to explore.

Set along Portland’s iconic Baxter Blvd on Back Cove, this park has a 3-mile multi-use path, athletic field, horticultural gardens, fitness course, and wildlife viewing areas. The tree-lined stone dust and paved path boasts views of the skyline while hugging the edges of a tidal estuary basin. There are abundant opportunities for birding, biking, running and walking. The Back Cove trail was first visioned by James Phinney Baxter, mayor of Portland in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The Back Cove trail was completed in 1917 after a combined effort by many Portland residents.

The Eastern Promenade Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. In a collaborative effort, Portland Trails, the City of Portland Landbank Commission and the state's Land for Maine's Future program established a 48-acre public nature preserve along the river to protect this scenic area.

Sebago to the Sea Trail is a pet-friendly recreation trail stretching 28 miles from Sebago Lake to Casco Bay in Portland, ME. The trail winds alongside the Presumpscot River for much of the way.
