National Elk Refuge The National Elk Refuge is a dog-friendly attraction in Jackson, WY. Both pedestrians and leashed dogs are allowed on the main refuge road on the east side of the site and from mid-December through early April. You and Fido can view a herd of local elks grazing in their winter habitat. The elks have been on this protected area since 1912 and they are joined by large flocks of birds, bighorn sheep, coyotes, pronghorns, curlews, sandhill cranes, and trumpeter swans. See Details

Shoshone National Forest Dogs are welcome to join their humans on an exploration of the great outdoors in Shoshone National Forest, a pet-friendly park in Cody, WY. The national forest features more than 1,300 miles of trails, 11 picnic sites, and four scenic byways which travel throughout the forest and offers outstanding views of the mountain peaks, glaciers, streams, rivers, plateaus and more. Check out Popo Agie Falls Trail for an easy hike that features a waterfall or stride out on the moderate Bridal Veil Falls Trail. Dogs must be leashed in developed recreation sites. Bighorn National Forest Leashed dogs are welcome to join their humans on an exploration of Bighorn National Forest, a pet-friendly area in Sheridan, WY. Bighorn National Forest has 1,200 miles of trails throughout much of the 189,000 acres of protected wilderness along with three scenic byways, multiple reservoirs and miles of streams, 10 picnic areas, 30 campgrounds and more. Dogs must be leashed at all times and aren't permitted in the backcountry. Bighorn National Forest is bear country, so dogs should wear bear bells to prevent startling the bears.
