Waldhaus - Modern Forest Home
Bike, hike and snowshoe with your outbound hound along the forest trails that surround Waldhaus - Modern Forest Home. Powder pups can also explore the slopes at Sugarbush Resort, located just 15 minutes away. Dogs aren’t allowed on ski trails during operating hours, but leashed pups are welcome on restaurant patios, designated hiking trails and the disc golf course during the summer months. If your pooch would rather chill than feel the chill, admire the snow from the warmth of the living room, where the outside is invited in through huge windows.
Lassen National Park Cabin
Lake Helen has more snowfall annually than anywhere else in California, so this cozy log cabin guarantees you and your winter dog breed a sublime snowscape to explore. Situated on more than three private acres, the property backs up to winding woodland trails. Inside, guests are welcome to fire up the wood-burning stove, play a board game or watch out for wildlife from the balcony with a hot drink in hand. While dogs aren’t permitted at Lassen National Park, you can explore a variety of trails in the surrounding Lassen National Forest with your pooch. Spatter Cone Nature Trail is a short drive away and welcomes pups with good recall to hike off leash.
Modern Cabin Overlooking Clearwater River
Designed with all the convenience of a tiny home but with more space, this modern cabin overlooking Clearwater River is ideal for an invigorating escape to Idaho’s beautiful backcountry. With awesome outdoor spaces like Dworshak State Park on your doorstep, it’s tempting to stride out and explore, but with stunning river views right from the deck, you might want to hunker down and cozy up with your pup instead.
Upscale Cozy Cabin
Asheville has a reputation as one of the southeast’s hippest destinations, and this Upscale Cozy Cabin is definitely on trend. Enjoy snowy surroundings from the unique, open-air porch with a wood-burning stove to warm chilly paws. The large backyard has a swing and outdoor games, and the nearby creek provides a soothing natural soundtrack. Lounge in the hot tub, kindle a fire in the pit and explore the pet-friendly hiking trails surrounding the cabin, which should keep Fido busy for days.
Ptarmigan Mountain A-Frame
This cozy A-frame boasts “million-dollar views” of snow-capped mountains through huge floor-to-ceiling windows. While your Bassett basks on the deck on the other side of the windows, you can soak in the hot tub next to him or sneak out to the sauna with the same sweet view. Then, fix Fido a warm winter meal on the grill and retire next to the fire inside. In the morning, outbound hounds can check skijoring off their winter bucket list at High Country Dogs in Silverthorne.
Secret Getaway Nestled in a Woodland Setting
On the state line straddling New York and Pennsylvania, you’ll find a spellbinding Secret Getaway in a Woodland Setting. During the summer, people and their pooches flock to the area for activities like tubing and SUP on the Delaware River, but the wintertime is just as special. After a day of hiking through the forest, wander up the flagstone path to this storybook chalet, pile a few logs on the fire and settle down for the evening.
North Shore River Cabin
When the owners constructed this pet-friendly North Shore River Cabin in 1995, they used local materials and energy-saving techniques to create an idyllic getaway on the shores of Minnesota’s Baptism River. The sliding glass doors lead out onto the open deck, offering a view of the woods and the sound of rushing water below. If you can drag yourself away from the tranquility for an afternoon, take a trip up the shoreline of nearby Lake Superior. Park the car at Gooseberry Falls State Park and walk around the scenic area with your canine companion.
Blue Hour A-Frame
Combining modern with boho, the Blue Hour A-Frame is the winter Adirondacks escape you and your canine travel companion have been searching for. Take a break from it all at this cabin with hardwood floors, a fireplace and modern amenities inside. There’s fun for the whole pack outside, too. Human guests will love relaxing in the bubbling hot tub as the snow gently falls all around, and four-legged visitors can let loose and make snow angels in the fenced backyard.
Coho Cabin
The Last Frontier awaits Fido at the Coho Cabin, a 600-foot tiny home with everything you need for an Alaskan adventure, including a gorgeous little garden, neat decor and a fabulous location. The nearest human settlement is Talkeetna, which was ruled over by Stubbs the Cat for 20 years. The feline mayor was its biggest tourist attraction, bringing more than 20 people to town each day. Now that the coast is clear of cats, your pooch can visit Talkeetna, the “Gateway to Denali.” The area is also a prime location to view the Northern Lights.
