Point Pleasant Park is one of Halifax Regional Municipality's great civic spaces. It is the largest forested park on the Halifax peninsula and offers fine views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also one of about 7 off leash parks for dogs in the HRM - and the oldest dog park in Halifax. There is an off leash part and a "no-dogs at all after 10am" part, so consult the well marked signage inside the park.

ElderDog Canada

Travellers and their canine companions are welcome to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the home of ElderDog Canada close to Lunenburg and Rose Bay in Nova Scotia?s picturesque Lunenburg County. Walk trails through field and forest, swim in the sheltered cove, have a picnic by the shore. No fee. Donations to ElderDog Canada appreciated. **Day visits only. No washroom facilities. Dartmouth Crossing

Dartmouth Crossing is a shopping center with a difference, lots of their stores are dog-friendly. Many stores at Dartmouth Crossing welcome leashed, well-behaved pets inside. Just look for the “Pet Friendly Store” decals on the front door to see if Fido is allowed inside. Pets must be kept leashed or in carriers and kept under control by their owners. Sherbrooke Village

Dogs are welcome in the streets and in buildings in this historical re-enactment village. Sherbrooke Village depicts a typical Nova Scotian village from 1860 to pre-WW1. With approximately 80 buildings, over 25 of those open to the public, most with costumed interpreters, it is the largest Nova Scotia Museum site. Sherbrooke Village is open June 5 to September 24 from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
