All breeds are welcome to watch, but only Dachshunds can participate in the race. There will also be an Adoptable Dog Parade between the Dachshund races.

The race is disposable cup–free, with runners receiving a SpeedCup or using their own hydration. The 5K Run is a competitive race and there's a 3K run/walk option for dogs (K9 race) where dogs must be leashed. Participants will run or walk through Harborview Park and along parts of the Coast Guard Training Center Cape May.

A drink purchase is required to participate, and online voting will determine the first-, second- and third-place winners.
