Reviews
Visitors generally find the Bayfront Inn to be a pet-friendly, well-located option, though some note the rooms are small and basic. They highlight the hotel's welcoming amenities for dogs, including goodie bags and nearby walking areas, as well as its convenient proximity to Morro Bay's attractions.

- DianaNov 1, 2023Good Morro Bay location
PROS: Dog friendly (although front desk did not know we had a dog) so we didn't get the doggie royal treatment. We had upstairs room 10. Good size, clean, bed linens very clean & was able to see the rock and had good natural lighting. King size bed was decent. Easy to walk to the touristy restaurants & walk up a small hill to the proper town. Nice to walk dog along the bay (north) towards the rock & also walk south towards the park. You have an excellent view of the rock.
You do get a cinnamon bun complimentary. Parking is easy. Pet fee is reasonable. Hotel is central (easy to get to Los Osos, San Luis Obispo, Cambria & Paso Robles). Water fountain nice touch. This hotel is a no frills hotel. If you are looking for a lower cost, no frills, good location then stay here.
CONS: First night could not sleep because neighboring room had a loud person snoring (walls thin) but 2nd night was fine (bring ear plugs just in case). Room does get chilly so wear warm PJs (linens are light and only one wool blanket). Since it's dog friendly they allow dogs to remain in room upon request & one room left their dog in the room solo & was barking for close to 2 hours (lucky for us it was in the last afternoon but before 8pm); did mention it to the hotel clerk but he didn't do anything. We were concerned dog was distressed.
Common areas could use less seating in the "garden area" as it feels over crowded. We did not have any access to wifi even though the network and password were posted. The network name did not show up on our devices (I also didn't inform the front desk). The room smelled very strongly of fabuloso (the cleaner). Popcorn ceilings in the room & the floor felt like it was going soft in some of the sections. We booked 2 nights & no complimentary wine as per the hotel website :( The common areas needed a bit more care (such as picking up trash). Just seems like this place could use a bit more TLC.
- JackieSep 6, 2023Great location but dirty
The bathroom was dirty; looked like mold in the shower and the walls & baseboards were gross. The sheets and pillow cases were stained and the floors were sticky.
- JohnSep 5, 2023Great Location
Friendly staff, comfortable room.
- MicheleJul 16, 2023Just okay
Nice that they gave doggy treats and toys, but the room was small and there is no grass for the dogs. They need to make an area with grass.
- CyndiJun 28, 2023Great location
staff very helpful
- DennisApr 23, 2023Nice place, nice location
But the queen size bed rooms are pretty small. Lots to see and do nearby.
- Mary EllenApr 4, 2023Very Clean, Very Basic
This is a simple, clean, basic motel. Good location. No frills.
- KateDec 27, 2022Gross bathroom, rude and aggressive staff
The room advertised was a queen room with a patio (room numbers 5, 6, 7, 8 specifically). None of those rooms have patios: the front doors open up to one shared patio with a handful of seats. Our bathroom was covered in a sticky residue and appeared to have not been cleaned in some time. Finally, the bed was full-sized, not a queen, and was supplied with one paper thin blanket. There was no space to place a crate for one dog, much less two. The male staff member I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and aggressive to us, borderline threatening. We did not even stay one night. This place is an absolute scam.
- MichaelDec 24, 2022Have been here a few times
These folks treat your pets as well as you and that's saying a lot. Excellent stay in every respect (unless you need a closet!). We love this place!
- BrendanDec 5, 2022Excellent hospitality to humans and canines.
Dan, the manager, was very thorough and accommodating. He was kind enough to give us a complimentary goodie bag full of several treats that we and our dog enjoyed greatly.
- JessieSep 10, 2022Not the greatest
Very small, dark room. As I have a golden retriever, I literally stayed outside until it was time to go to bed.
On the bright side, the hotel is situated right on the wharf. There is a little beach where my dog went for a swim. - SteveAug 22, 2022They really cater to your pooch
Small room but with a great location. The owners really cater to your dog with a welcome package.
- NicholasJul 13, 2022Bayfront Inn Rocks!
We took our 18 year old chiweenie dog, Whipple on a vacation to Morro Bay and the Bayfront Inn was the perfect hotel!
The location could not be better:
1. Right across the street from the bay.
2. Within sight of Morro Rock.
2. Right next to the stacks.
3. Within walking distance of Morro Rock, Morro Rock Beach, all the shops and restaurants, and the otters! We booked the room through the BringFido website. When we booked, we included we were bringing a small dog. We called the hotel ahead of time to check on the reservation and they were not aware we were bringing a dog but it was no problem. They charged us the $30 pet fee over the phone (the total cost for our 4 night stay). When we checked in, they gave us a pet welcome bag with a small blanket, some treats, and dog information. The blanket came in very handy when it got a little chilly and we wrapped it around our dog when we were walking him in his stroller. Special shoutout to Lee in the office. She was so nice to us and our dog during our stay! Just an FYI, there is not a place on the property for your dog to go to the bathroom but you can walk a couple doors down and there are some planty spots for your dog to relieve themselves. We felt very safe in the area.
We stayed in Room 20 (probably the best room in the hotel) which was just up the stairs above the hotel office. Our window overlooked the bay and the rock. It was a small room with a King size bed, tv, minifridge, blow dryer, and small shower. It was very cute, cozy, and romantic. We brought extra blankets and our dog’s bed and we were very comfortable.
The hotel gives you a voucher where you are able to go to Frankie and Lola’s restaurant (located right next door) each morning of your stay and get delicious Cinnamon Rolls the size of your head! Be sure to also grab breakfast! Check out their menu online before your stay! Goddess Goods is very close as well and they have lots of delicious healthy juices, smoothies, and food.
We walked around the whole area with our dog in his stroller and ate at many places with dog friendly patios. We rented a kayak and brought our dog in his carrier. We paddled the whole bay and saw all the boats, seals, and otters (even a mommy and baby otter!)! My boyfriend went paddle boarding. We walked to the rock. We drove to Olde Port Beach in Avila which is a great off leash dog beach. Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time! We strongly recommend staying at the Bayfront Inn for your Morro Bay dog adventure! Thank you Bayfront Inn!
- AlanJul 11, 2022Not very pet friendly
Tiny, overpriced room. King-sized bed with uncomfortable mattress in a 10x10 room. Very tough to fit our medium-sized dog in the room with us. No dog relief area on premises. We were given a list of rules at check-in, which included a $200 fine for a dog relieving itself anywhere on the property. The dog “goody bag” was insufficient to make this motel truly dog friendly, given the other deficiencies.
- KelliJul 9, 2022Great location
Bayfront Inn was perfectly located to enjoy walking the dogs everywhere near the Embarcadero. The room was on small side but comfortable and clean. The folks were very welcoming with our two large dogs. We would highly recommend staying here.
- BenjaminJun 3, 2022Relaxing and Quiet
This place was great! They provided bowls and had a welcome bag for our dog with treats, a toy, and a blanket. We saw sea lions and otters on our walks. There are several of fun, dog-friendly restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary cinnamon rolls from the next door restaurant were FANTASTIC. We ended up ordering extra to eat on our road trip. We only stayed for one night, but Morro Bay is a very cute community and we plan to return to explore more of it.
- JessicaMay 4, 2022Perfect dog retreat
This place is so perfect for you and your pet! It faces the iconic Morro Rock and you can walk right to Main St. to view the wildlife (otters and sea lions). The place has a sunny patio filled with plants to hang with the pup, although take note, pups cannot do their business here. The room was prepped for my dog’s stag and came with a goodie bag for her. The people working here are super sweet and greet you and your dog.
I also needed a dog sitter one day and the hotel connected me to a dog sitter who turned out to be perfect!! I would love to stay again and this place felt like a second home. - MelissaApr 17, 2022Great Location
We loved staying here with our doggies. We will definitely come back. We loved that the hotel is very pet friendly.
- JanetMar 25, 2022Quirky dog-friendly Inn 🐶🐶💙💙
Stayed a couple nights and was overall pretty satisfied. The heater was not enough to battle with the draft coming from under the door, so bring your own blankets. Happy I always bring bedding for my dogs, because they provide 1 very thin blanket and sheet. I understand that a pet-friendly place isn’t going to provide plush bedding, but there wasn’t anywhere on the website that mentions to BYOblankets. The dog pooping area is quite a distance away from the property and not well lit, so felt unsafe when the dogs had a late pee. Very friendly and accommodating staff, an adorable pooch toy/treat welcome basket and bottle of blush wine for the humans. The view and location can’t be beat. Also so lovely a cafe and bakery are literally outside the gates, so very convenient for coffee and breakfast.
- NancyJan 6, 2022Definitely Pet and People Friendly!
They truly love dogs! VIP treatment. Super clean, great location with beautiful views and places to walk. Lovely places to sit outside and watch the sunset over the bay. Awesome staff. Thank you!
- DawnJul 30, 2021Great for guests with pets
Wow. They made me feel as if they think my dogs are just as amazing as I think they are! Thank you!
- GenevieveJul 19, 2021They love pets!
The most pet friendly place we have ever stayed! The pups got spoiled with a goodie bag! Treats, toys and new blankets! Also it’s great location for humans, walking distance to everything, great view of the Rock and we got fresh pastries left on our door in the morning!
- JimMay 22, 2021Great Pet Friendly
This is the best hotel who allows pets. You didn’t have to pay a daily fee and they welcomed each pet with a gift bag and water/feed bowls. Inside the bag was a light weight blanket, a toy and yummy treats. We will be back again as they treated Kona like a princess.
- KristenMay 7, 2021The Bayfront Inn was great but...
They had no idea we were bringing a pet! We were told Expedia did not advise them!
- LeslieMay 5, 2021Great location, super nice staff, very small rooms
We really enjoyed staying on the embarcadero in Morro Bay, it was great to be so close to the shops and Coleman Park for swimming. The staff is super nice and they provide a dog goodie bag and bowls. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the very small room size, just enough for the bed and to walk around it, not for my dog to lay down on the floor. So she laid down on the balcony just outside the door. A room size not recommended for more than 2 nights.
- FRANCISApr 7, 2021Great Experience
The view was amazing and the staff was very accommodating.
- KelseyMar 28, 2021Absolutely fantastic!
The staff were super friendly and welcoming to us and our fur baby. They left a doggie bag on the bed with cookies, poop bags, a blanket and a TOY! For the humans there was taffy and wine waiting as we were staying multiple nights. The rooms are on the small size but that information is given when booking. You can’t beat the location either, right in the bay sandwiched between restaurants and the boardwalk. Highly recommend this place and we hope to come back soon.
- KrystalFeb 25, 2021GREAT LOCATION, FANTASTIC STAFF!!!
We had a great stay at the Bayfront Inn, the staff was super friendly to us and our pup. The check-in process was straight forward, and the staff not only accommodated Nala but even provided a goody bag for her and extra treats every time they saw her :)
The location is super convenient and beautiful view of the bay and the rock . Everything is walking distance and very delicious breakfast right downstairs at Frankie & Lola's.
Definitely will be returning at our future visits to Morro Bay. - Randy georgeDec 4, 2020Such a nice stay!
My husband and I spent five nights here right before the Thanksgiving holiday. Jane and her staff were very gracious and helpful to us. She gave us recommendations on where to eat and where the dog beach was located. The room was on the small side but can't really beat the location. Larger rooms are #10 and #12 (I think). We'll be going back at some point!
- KatieDec 2, 2020They Love Our Pups!
This is our go-to favorite inn when we come to Moro Bay. We have stayed there 3 times now and will continue to always stay here. My #1 reason for staying here is that they are dog friendly!! They always put a cute gift gift bag in the bed for our 2 dogs that contain 2 blankets, 2 toys, treats, and poop bags!! 2nd, the staff is super friendly, always remembers us, and always accommodating! 3rd, you can't beat the location. It's walking distances to the Embarcadero, all the restaurants, and the rock. During COVID, when we've been cooped up at home and needed a change of scenery, we've felt 100% safe staying here. The rooms are extra cleaned and sanitized! We've stay in a few different rooms, they are all great, but room 20 is our favorite so far. It has a perfect view of the rock and harbor. Can't say enough about this place.
- JenniferJul 1, 2020Great dog friendly place!
I had read the reviews before staying here and let me say the Bayfront Inn surpassed my expectations!! Yes the rooms are small but very cute retro style, it’s super dog friendly & our view from our room was amazing!!! Thanks Bayfront I definitely will be back again & again!!
- MaryJan 9, 2020Embarcadero in Morro Bay
Older hotel on the Embarcadero. Nice welcome gifts, but no place on the property for dogs to relieve themselves. When I asked about where I could take them, the front desk clerk just said anywhere there is dirt, then suggested I go to the end of the strip of buildings. That turned out to be private property, so I walked further. Probably OK for small dogs, but when you need to walk them late at night or early in the morning, not so great. I am a senior woman traveling alone.
- MarthaDec 27, 2019Super Friendly
Great location, super duper dog friendly, cute as heck, small room but comfy, surprisingly quiet and all around very satisfying. We would stay again with our 2 dogs.
- KimberlyDec 24, 2019Clean and Dog Friendly
VERY nice and accommodating host, clean room although small, nice gift package for our dog upon arrival and great location. We would go back.
- ChristyDec 3, 2019Great location, super pet friendly
Will definitely keep in mind for my next visit. Host was very nice. Location was great. My dog even got a welcome basket with loads of goodies.
- MugdhaDec 1, 2019Great for 2 people and a small or medium dog
The good: it is very dog friendly with very cute outdoor seating spaces (Great to watch sunsets or eat your takeout). The doggy treat bag and water and food bowl are a great touch.
The bad: the indoor space is very small and cramped especially if you have a large dog. They only allow 2 adults and a child under 3, which wasn’t clear when we booked on BringFido, so we ended up having to pay for an extra room as we were traveling with our 10 year old.
- LisaNov 30, 2019Definitely Dog Friendly
Milo was welcomed to this location and they were happy for him to stay in the room alone as long as he was crated and not barking. They do offer dog sitting services here also if you have a needy pooch. There is an off leash dog beach just a few miles up the road too which made this the perfect trip with Fido.
- BarbOct 12, 2019Clean and efficient stay!
Nice 60’s retro pad! Great treats for dogs and humans! Softest sheets ever! Close to shops and dining (dog friendly)! WiFi a little sketchy...
- PriscillaSep 12, 2019Super dog friendly
They had dog bowls, dog blanket and toy and treats. Great location. Older building so could get noisy, but would definitely go back!!
- JudySep 1, 2019BringFido.com
Our stay at the Bayfront Inn T the Waterfront was very enjoyable. Our little dog loved her doggie bag of treats. We enjoyed the fine and free cinnamon rolls each morning. I would highly recommend staying here the next time you are in Morro Bay.
- MichaelAug 23, 2019Bayfront inn Morro Bay ca
They were wonderful on everything
- SusanAug 16, 2019This is a cute, very dog friendly motel
We enjoyed our stay here. The establishment is very pet friendly. The rooms are small and few have a view of the harbor or it would have gotten 5 bones
- KarlaJun 3, 2019Dog Friendly And Perfect Location
A nice, clean and quiet no frills inn by the Morro Bay Harbor. Super dog friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us and our pup feel welcomed. Will definitely stay here again.
- ThomasNov 9, 2018Socks loved it!
And we agree with him; it's absolutely great. An older facility but very well maintained and impeccably clean. Rooms are small (typical of the era when it was built) but comfy. They are *very* pet friendly with water and food bowls in the room, as well as a bag with treats. And you can't beat the location -- otters frolicking by the docks across the street, great seafood and a park just a few minutes' walk away. We will *definitely* stay there again.
- DakotaOct 28, 2018Always my favorite
The rooms are small, but when your at the beach with the dogs all day, size doesn't matter. The staff are wonderful, and always make our stay pleasant. I recommend bringing bottled water though as the pipes are very old and could use an update. Great location, best price in town for pet friendly, I recommend to always try to book here.
- JaniceMore than a year agoFelt at home.
I stayed there Oct. 10, 2017 and I felt at home. Very comfortable, great view and the staff was extremely friendly. Bed and pillows where great, my 4 legged kids liked there stay too. Bathroom shower a little small but overall I can't complaint. I plan on going back to Morro Bay Next Year and only want to stay at Bayfront Inn. It's home away from home. Thank you to all of the staff.
- MamieMore than a year agoComfortable Stay
We didn’t know what to expect, seen it many times but thought it would be TOO Expensive, being so close to Restaurants and Shopping. Friends of ours, recommended it they also have dogs. This location was Excellent, upon arrival we received coupons:
2 Free homemade Cinnamon buns were a treat – Frankie & Lola’s, right next door, was the perfect place to grab breakfast on our back to Fresno... PLUS a
