Great room with balcony and views over a raging river. Great location only 4 miles to the park entrance. Good ADA access and dog friendly
- DavinApr 14, 2024Always a great place for pets
We have been staying at the Yosemite View for decades and always a good stay. Love having the Merced River right outside the patio. Truly a unique place and very pet friendly.
- BereccaSep 20, 2023Great location
Pros: short drive to Yosemite Village Center, large room, pet waste areas, and lobby has store for merch and convenience food. Cons: a bit outdated and my body ached next day from the mattress, not much food places around which has odd hours and can close entirely.
- LindaAug 25, 2023Stella & us enjoyed it
After a long day. It was great to have our lab Stella enjoy this hotel too. Large, clean rooms, friendly staff great stop in Yosemite
- DanielaFeb 1, 2023Very pet friendly hotel
Great location and pet friendly.
- JohnNov 21, 2022Yosemite visit
Fully equipped kitchenette, great river view, very accommodating with our dog. We even saw a bear!
- BethSep 1, 2022Great location with comfortable lodging
This hotel has a retro feel and is just outside the entrance to Yosemite. Our balcony overlooked the Merced River. It was very comfortable and peaceful.
- ChrisMay 4, 2022Great location (river side roar)
Location. FYI No VW cell service. Wifi is $10/day.
- BobbiApr 20, 2022A river in your back yard!!
What a fabulous location! You can’t get any closer to Yosemite, and there is a huge roaring stream right in your backyard. The sounds of that river made for good sleeping. And our bottom floor room had a fenced patio where the dogs could play while we sat at the table under an umbrella. The room had a small kitchenette and the restaurant and bar or a short walk away. Although the prices are comparable, this isn’t the Ritz Carlton, but it was clean, had everything we needed, and we would stay here again. I would have given it a full five bones had there been an off leash area for the dogs who unfortunately practically lived in the car for the two days we were enjoying the park. You can’t take them anywhere but around the parking lots, so a little running and rolling in the grass time at the hotel would have been truly appreciated by the dogs and by us.
- BeckyMar 24, 2022Great location and close to Yosemite NP
River view room.
- GeneeJan 16, 2022Gypsy gives it 5 paws
Our pooch loved the stay here and so did we. The rooms are large (old furnishings but still nice), fireplace, and balcony. We recommend the river view rooms for sure! So amazing to sleep with the sound of the river.
- DiannaSep 9, 2021Scam place
Reserved a room and called hotel directly to cancel due to covid exposure. Wouldn't cancel said I had to go through booking.com. Booking.com will not respond to my emails, or calls. Was charged $350 😪
- JamieSep 4, 2021Dated, but proximity and view are outstanding
We stayed for our last night at Yosemite. It was expensive for us (not compared to other hotels near the park), but the location cannot be beat. We splurged on a river view room and got a spacious patio and and the sound of rushing water. Kitchenette and bath have been updated (except for the HUGE jetted tub we didn't use), but the room walls and chairs could use a refresh. It also had a fireplace we didn't use. Within sight of the park boundary and the sound of rushing water made it worthwhile. The on-site restaurant service was excellent.
- DebbieJun 28, 2021Great Stay!!!
Clean big rooms with an amazing view! Dog friendly. Would stay again.
- CandaceMay 24, 2021Great location with great treatment for the family!
We had a lovely room that was dog friendly. I will be back!

This is the best option if you can’t stay in the park. (The lodges within the park only allow service dogs.) It’s old and a little shabby, but a pleasant enough place to stay as a launching pad to Yosemite Valley. The rooms are large with kitchens and there’s a little dog park on the property, though unfortunately there was too much trash in it when we were there.
- AngieOct 23, 2020Comfortable and convenient
As others have said the lodge is out dated but it was clean and comfortable for us and our 2 pups. Our room had a kitchenette which was handy for dog food prep. Weirdly it also had an upper second bedroom so plenty of space. There's not a lot of green space for them to do their business. But considering location to the park (keep in mind you're in the middle of nowhere) we were so happy they allow dogs. The staff was nice and we enjoyed the pizza place.
- JamesJan 30, 2020Great Location and nice size room
The reviews for the Yosemite View lodge are mixed and probably rightly so but given this is pretty much the only hotel accommodations anywhere near the Park which allow pets, options are limited.
Our experience was very nice with no issues. We were there off season (late January). The room, a King river view, was much larger than we expected with a couch and a kitchenette. Our 38 lb mix (Shepherd, Chou, Chihuahua and who knows what else) enjoyed the grounds and romping in the snow. The lodge allows one to leave their pet unattended in the room which was nice as it allowed us to eat dinner in the restaurant (one night in the main restaurant - average food at best and one night in the Pizzeria which wasn't bad) without worrying about our pet in the car in freezing temperatures.
The hotel was probably 30% full on Saturday night and maybe half that the Friday and Sunday nights of our stay so probably aided our experience as they don't seem staffed to handle 336 units.
All in all, we will definitely stay at the Yosemite View Lodge the next time we visit Yosemite and take our dog.
- AdamJan 30, 2020Close to Yosemite
Our room was right next to the river and we could hear it from our room! There is a general store, and restaurant & bar near the rooms and an indoor pool & hot tub. Would highly recommend.
- MeganNov 3, 2019Great location; will nickel and dime you.
Location is good which seems to suggest that they don’t have to earn their patrons. Get ready for a flat sheet on a bare mattress, no pillow protectors, $10 a day WiFi fee, tourism fee, pet fee, an infestation of ants and plenty of spiders 😬. But location is great.
- ChrisSep 19, 2019Felt Unwelcome
For a hotel that advertises here as dog friendly, we felt it was more just tolerant, than accepting of dogs.
There is a $25 pet fee per pet per night on top of the nightly rate. We felt $300 per night for the outdated room was a little steep, the pet fee on top just confirmed this.
The restaurants attached were odd.
The main restaurant host ignored me completely and started serving someone else when I went to ask if dogs were allowed so we went to the pizza place instead. When we asked if dogs were allowed on the patio at the pizza place I had to repeat myself four times (“Are dogs allowed on the patio”) before they realised we had a dog and the response was a shrug and “I guess”In the morning we went to try the restaurant again for breakfast to be told it was $18 per person for a buffet and that dogs couldn’t go on the patio but we could have a take out box “to go” instead of dining in. Personally $18pp is already steep for a buffet breakfast without the option of being able to return for more being taken away...
We mentioned these concerns to hotel staff on check out to let them know their dog friendly hotel was coming across as quite unfriendly and they couldn’t have cared less.
Only gets 3 because the location was great for access to Yosemite (where dogs can go on paved trails) and the view from our room with the river was great.
