Felt Unwelcome

Yosemite View Lodge

For a hotel that advertises here as dog friendly, we felt it was more just tolerant, than accepting of dogs.

There is a $25 pet fee per pet per night on top of the nightly rate. We felt $300 per night for the outdated room was a little steep, the pet fee on top just confirmed this.

The restaurants attached were odd.
The main restaurant host ignored me completely and started serving someone else when I went to ask if dogs were allowed so we went to the pizza place instead. When we asked if dogs were allowed on the patio at the pizza place I had to repeat myself four times (“Are dogs allowed on the patio”) before they realised we had a dog and the response was a shrug and “I guess”

In the morning we went to try the restaurant again for breakfast to be told it was $18 per person for a buffet and that dogs couldn’t go on the patio but we could have a take out box “to go” instead of dining in. Personally $18pp is already steep for a buffet breakfast without the option of being able to return for more being taken away...

We mentioned these concerns to hotel staff on check out to let them know their dog friendly hotel was coming across as quite unfriendly and they couldn’t have cared less.

Only gets 3 because the location was great for access to Yosemite (where dogs can go on paved trails) and the view from our room with the river was great.
