This was a great location on the dog beach. Customer service was friendly and helpful. The kitchenette was outdated.

The filthiest hotel we've ever seen! After just a few hours we were sick. Cigarette butts everywhere. Not pet friendly at all. Very run down. Needs to be closed.

Upon arrival, the front desk provided dog treats. The room was clean.

Although the location is great and allows pets, the rooms and accommodations are subpar. The room was filthy, the furniture and kitchen beyond worn out. The front desk staff was not at all bothered with customer concerns. Our three-night weekend stay ended up being only one night. We would not consider staying again unless renovations were made.

Our dog was fine. No dogs on beach and little grassy areas. Had a welcome bag of dog treats for dog. However our review is different. Great ocean view with comfortable chairs on balcony. Nice pool and separate kiddy pool. Hotel is right on beach! However, room poorly cleaned. Kitchen not equipped with essentials like silverware, glasses, plates. Bed was horrid! Worst I have ever slept in in 70 years!

I loved the view of the ocean from the dog walk here. But the rooms, I have to say, were so horribly filthy, moldy, and sticky that I had to lay the dog blanket on the bed to make sure I could sleep on it.

Dirty comforters, holes in the walls and tears in the curtains, but at least the location was great - right on the beach, plus the room had outside access which was nice with a dog.

Good location right on the beach perfect ocean view from the 3rd fl. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast choices were okay waffle were the best breakfast staff very nice. The coffee was Extremely Strong I personally couldn’t drink it with that being said McDonalds is right down the road “good coffee “ lol. Maintenance guy was on his game with cleaning the pool and fixing the elevator. All in all for the money it was good the hotel has some updates but is older housekeeping was also great. This was our 2nd stay and we would definitely be going back. Has a fenced area for dogs to potty.

Safe Stay: Makai Beach Lodge has enhanced cleaning and safety measures in place. Hand sanitizer is provided to guests, and rooms are disinfected between each stay. Social distancing measures are in place, as well as physical barriers between staff and guests. Contactless check-in and check-out are available. Each room has a 24-hour gap period between stays, and hotel staff are required to wear masks.
