    Absolutely Awful

The hotel is nasty. Piles of rocks, leaves, and bugs in the corners of the hotels by the doors. The paint is chipping off everywhere, the door knob to the bathroom in our room was missing, the bed was rock hard, the pool was closed. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 9:30 but at 8:00 am there was nothing left and nothing refilled. The grounds were filthy and I was afraid to walk my dog; had to ask my husband to do it. We stayed here three years ago and it was beautiful. No clue what happened, but we will never stay here again.

    Not so great

Our room was on the 2nd floor with no elevator. The door lock on the inside only worked when wiggling it, the toilet was low to the ground as if for children. The night stand was 3 feet from the bed and could not be brought closer, because the lamp and clock cables were too short. The sheets were formerly white, but now grey and the overall impression of this wing of rooms was not clean. The plus was that the room was relatively large.

    Room was OK but...

Two of the outside doors would open without any kind of card access so safety was a concern. The grass was tall and tall weeds were growing around the buildings. It really looked neglected. We switched rooms after looking at the first room in the back of the property - WOW did that area look sketchy! Our second room was clean and comfortable and the air conditioning worked.

Great staff, clean, green space to walk dog

The staff was great and most of the stars are for them.  We checked in at midnight after booking online with bringfido.com.  Checkin was quick, even with someone in the line ahead of us.   COVID safe breakfast the next morning was breakfast sandwiches on freshly made biscuits (yum) and toasted bagel to bring back to the room.  It didn't look like "corporate" was sponsoring an official pandemic pivot so adapting breakfast was clearly the resourcefulness of the staff.

Pros:  Great price.  Beds were comfortable.  Room was clean.  Good shower.  Some green space to walk the dog.  The complex had obviously had a heyday in the past as a conference destination.  Indoor and outdoor pool (with actual pool house).  Interesting touches like mezzanine stairwells in a side wing,  nice contemporary furniture, and a large inner courtyard.

Cons:  We had to to get to our room through a door around the back of the hotel.  The outer door was not locked with a defunct key card reader.  (The room itself was secure with keycard lock and deadbolt.)  If it hadn't been for the internet we would have never found them, literally.  The sign was not lit from the road. Some of the patrons were very late night.  The walls weren't paper-thin, but you could hear folks in the hallway.

The price was bargain basement.  As a traveling family, we went for budget over stars.
