So dog friendly I think they were more excited to serve our dogs than the human customers. A great little town with the C&O trial right behind the restaurant. We will be stopping here again!
- JoeJul 2, 2023Amazing place! For humans and dogs!
This place is wonderful! It is one of the places you find and want to tell all your friends to stop at. We travel with our dog all the time and are always on the lookout for a place that will welcome them like they welcome us. This place is a place like that! Dogs are central to visiting this place. There are dogs inside and out. They have their own menu and get a free pup-cup of ice cream at the end of the meal.
The food for humans is great too! We had the biscuits and gravy, don't miss them!! Sunday brunch was fabulous.
The only thing better than the food was the friendly staff!! From the folks that greeted us and sat us at a table, to the many servers that stopped by to check on us. Friendliest of all was the manger who talked with us and shared information on the town and the restaurant, and where the love for dogs comes from.
We highly recommend this special place. - MeghanMar 18, 2023Heaven for Dogs
This place was amazing! So kind and welcoming with great food for the family, parents, and dogs! Everyone was happy and full when we left, but not before we walked around the antique and local business shops downstairs and upstairs respectively. Loved the atmosphere and people!

This place was a 1.5 hour drive from home and I have no regrets with the trip! the restaurant is eclectic and has a fun atmosphere

We stopped by today and asked about bringing our Irish Setter on the patio. They offered to let us sit anywhere we wanted, inside or out! We had a super nice spot outside. The gave Parkay her own menu, a bowl of fresh water and we placed our orders. Parkay got a dish of poached salmon, white rice and a medley of peas & carrots ($6). Her meal arrived with our appetizer. Parkay, ate her meal, locked her plate clean and laid down to let her food settle while we ate our meal.
At the end, Parkay got a pup cup (free) which is free! She licked the bowl clean!!!
Great place to stop for a meal, walk along the C&O Canal, take a bike ride and spend time with your dog! - MelissaAug 15, 2021Super pet friendly!!
We stopped for an appetizer and drinks, and saw that they even had a meal for our dog. She was allowed inside or outside of the restaurant. We had a great experience and food!!

Super dog-friendly welcome for Casey and my husband and me. They made sure Casey had water and we ordered for him off their dog menu. He gobbled it up! We met the owner who told me they are in the process of making their outside patio into a very special place for pooches, including a puppy pool! My husband and I enjoyed our dinners, too! Would go back in a heartbeat!
- VickiJul 17, 2021Super dog friendly
Not only did we eat on the deck, our boy walked right in through the front door! We were told that they believe that ‘every dog is a service dog…’ They offer a huge pup meal for just $6 and brought him a free pup cup of ice cream too! He also enjoyed the cup of water they brought out…it was a super hot day. The service and food were over the top and we will be back!

Every part of BuddyLou’s was great! The customer service, menu, music, ice cream, scenic tail, and shop are high quality!
- MichelleAug 30, 2020Very dog friendly!
Not only were the staff ecstatic to see the dogs they even took pictures to post on the restaurant's Facebook page. The menu had puppy plates (see below in pictures for menu and picture of the food) and it came with free ice cream with a dog biscuit. Will definitely come back again. Restaurant was also right next to C&O canal so you can walk off those calories on a flat, shady trail.
- AlinaJul 25, 2020Dog friendly for sure!!
Reading some of the past reviews it seems that Buddy Lou's has changed their approach to doggie patrons! We had a great experience today after being unable to find any dog friendly places to eat in Pennsylvania on our way home to Virginia. Stopped at Buddy Lou's where we've been before and they had a very nice expanded seating area in the parking lots with many table, umbrellas and full service including drinks from the bar. Our dog was very happy there and even happier when they offered him a dish of soft serve ice cream with a dog treat! Despite being super busy they catered to us and our dog and made our visit very pleasurable. We will be back for sure!

We checked this place out while passing through on our way to PA. After checking these reviews I went inside the lower level first to see about their policy. We were welcomed to sit outside which we did under a nice umbrella table. Our server brought Charlie a bowl of water with our drinks and a kitchen staffer asked if he could have a bone and brought him a nice treat which he devoured. Once we ordered lunch and got it our server mentioned they have a soft serve cup for dogs and asked if he'd like one. It came with a dog biscuit in the middle of it. There are numerous outdoor tables and some nice shaded grassy areas right behind them so Charlie was able to lay in the shade eating his soft serve. Fantastic place!
- ShelbiAug 23, 2019Not "dog-friendly"
We read that this place was dog-friendly but when we asked we were told we had to sit below to restaurant on the pavement (basically the parking lot) at a picnic table. We were thinking that wouldn't be too bad, but then they said we couldn't order alcohol and our food would be on trays. So by secluding us with our pup, that's not really dog-friendly. Needless to say, we left immediately. What a shame!
- SonyaAug 1, 2019No dogs allowed
Dogs are not allowed on the deck. You have to order to go and sit outside the building. Also you can't have alchohol out there. We left..
- HeidiMore than a year agoGreat stop
Rainy day but they have a couple of tables in the downstairs outside section. Super friendly staff who gave dogs water bowls and treats at the end. Food was good also and just a great scenery. H
- Randy BrownMore than a year agoNot really dog friendly
When I called they said we had to sit out back on the picnic tables and place a to go order. I was totally fine with that. My question is, how do I get upstairs to place an order when I'm by myself with my dog? I waved to a waitress and she completely ignored me. Seems if they want to be a dog friendly restaurant they need to come up with another way of ordering/receiving food . Needless to say, I left.
- SarahMore than a year agoGreat place but not dog friendly!
Our family took our dog for a walk on the C &O and thought it would be nice to go grab dinner at Buddy Lou's since it was listed as dog friendly with an nice patio down stairs to eat on. We went in to ask if they were dog friendly and they said yes but you had to order your food "to go" and sit at the picnic tables basically in the parking lot. I was very disappointed it wasn't table service with our furry friend.
