Lovely Hotel
Drury Plaza Hotel Columbia EastThis hotel is a newer hotel with a great fitness center and lovely public areas. Pretty standard as far as dog areas with small patches of grass and poop bags, but it was good enough. After a long day of driving, we love the “Kick Back Hour” where they provide free drinks, snacks, and dinner food so we don’t have to go out again and can just relax. It’s not gourmet, but the chicken Alfredo, salad, etc. is good enough for us. I particularly enjoyed the fitness center with its weight machines and treadmills. Not all hotel fitness centers are created equal and this was one of the better ones.

Good Room Location and Nice Staff
La Quinta by Wyndham Denver Airport DIAFor a LaQuinta this hotel seemed slightly frayed around the edges, but they placed our room near a back door on the first floor which gave our dogs easy access to grassy areas without having to walk through congested areas. There was also a sidewalk in back of the hotel for a decent walk. They have a decent fitness center and a restaurant next door within walking distance. Breakfast was so so as far as hotel breakfasts, but it begins a 5 am instead of the usual 6 which was great for us still on East Standard Time giving us an early start on the road.

Great Hotel But No Grass
Drury Inn & Suites FlagstaffWe loved that they placed our room near a stairwell on the second floor and near the sky bridge to the parking garage so our dogs never had to walk through the lobby. Area around the hotel are rocks with some landscaping, though, with no grassy areas. Eventually our dogs figured it out. Otherwise - super clean comfortable hotel with a pretty good hot breakfast and a “Kick Back Hour” where they provide free food for dinner and drinks. The free “dinner” isn’t gourmet but it tastes good enough after a long day on the road driving. We stay in Drury Inns whenever we can.

Great Dog Park!
Best Western Plus High Country InnThis hotel had the best dog park that I’ve seen while traveling. Big dogs and small dogs are separated. Plus - there are beautiful paved paths through gorgeous landscaping for leisurely walks. Lovely hotel with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Plus - great fitness center, good hot breakfast and a decent restaurant on the premises. Our dogs loved it and so did we.

Easy spot to rest
Best Western ShepherdsvilleThis was our dogs first hotel stay on a cross country trip and the Best Western was a great start. Friendly front desk staff gave us a choice of rooms upstairs or down and we ended up on the first floor with easy short access to the grassy areas outside. Hotel is basic but clean and has a nice pool area. Front desk staff was great for giving suggestions of places we could enjoy with our dogs. We didn’t find any dog friendly restaurants nearby but our dogs were fine staying in the room when we went out to eat across the freeway. Didn’t spot any restaurants close to hotel - the Denny’s they list is closed, but there are plenty of places just a five-minute drive away across I-65. This hotel is also close to the Bourbon Trail.

Great Downtown Athens Location
Ted's Most BestTed’s, in downtown Athens, was super convenient to the University of Georgia campus with easy street parking. Our dogs were well accommodated with bowls of water and tables seemed well spaced. The pizza and panini were pretty good too. Highly recommend. Great spot.

Nicely Spaced Out Outdoor Area
Cali-n-Tito'sThis was the first restaurant we took our two dogs to - to get them used to going to restaurants for a future cross country trip, since we were already familiar with it. Since our dogs tend to bark at other dogs, we knew it could be dicey. This place was PERFECT with a large outdoor area and tables widely spaced apart. Our dogs loved being included in the family meal, and the humans definitely did too. The Cuban sandwich was delicious. Our dogs will be going back!
