Good place for dogs

Good location with easy access to downtown and campus. Our room was large with plenty of room for our 75 lb lab’s crate. Dated, but expected for the price. Room 111 is right by an exit, so easy in and out. Not a lot of green space for dogs to go, but going under the sign was convenient. Dumpster is on the other side of the property. From a human perspective, we could have used more towels and at breakfast one morning they ran out of plates so everyone had to use cereal bowls. Staff heats the hot food in the available microwave. Overall, it was clean enough and we would stay there again if we had our dog with us.

Beautiful beach!

We had a great time bringing our lab here! It’s a short hike through the woods from the parking lot with tree roots and rocks along the way. The beach is absolutely beautiful. We got there about 8:30am on a Monday and had the place to ourselves. Our dog had a blast! The flies were still pretty bad so we only stayed about 30 minutes. We visited at the end of July if that helps. Short 15 minute drive out of town, just past the parking lots for Sugarloaf Mountain.

Great hike! Lots of stairs

We had an awesome time taking our dog up Sugarloaf. We took the difficult path up to minimize the number of stairs, but about halfway up stairs become your only option. Our dog surprised us by going up the stairs! We weren’t sure she would do it or not. Definitely a moderate hike but the views are incredible. Bring bug spray in the summer and water year round! There is a trash can in the parking lot for waste.

So dog friendly!

We visited with our three year old lab in May and would highly recommend a trip around this time! The weather was perfect and nothing was crowded. We did the Dune Ridge Hike (skill: easy, just a few steep inclines), Great Marsh Trail (skill: easy, trail can be muddy), and Central Ave Beach (skill: easy — you can walk on pavement the whole way or take stairs to shorten the distance). Our dog had a GREAT time and we would gladly go again. Bring towels in case of mud and tweezers in case of ticks.

Thanks for the pup cup!

We had such fun getting to bring our dog with us for an ice cream treat. Very welcoming! There are benches to sit on outside the store so your pup can truly enjoy their dessert.

Great winter outing!

Trails are well marked and dogs welcome as long as they are leashed. We had a great time getting out of the house and burning some energy on the red trail. Highly recommend!

Our favorite beach!

Beautiful beach with plenty of space to spread out. Parking is a little limited and there are lots of rocks on the very edge of the water, but the bottom gets sandier the further you get out. Gorgeous views. We will be back!

Great sandy beach!

We brought our dog here several times over the weekend and really enjoyed it. There is a dog side and a non-dog side, though the boundaries seemed to be self-enforced.
The beach is nice and sandy, and there is a sand bar about fifty feet from the shoreline. We recommend going in the evening as it is not as busy and you can easily find a parking spot.

Great place to bring dogs inside

We were pleasantly surprised to find that dogs were allowed inside. Several of the shops had lots of breakable items on display, so we opted to stay out of those. Otherwise it was a great place to bring a dog. There are a lot of people walking around, so lots of potential for distractions.
We did not do any of the hiking trails as they were not well marked so we couldn’t find them!

Quiet, rocky beach

Hidden gem near the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula. Very few people come up this far, so it is a good place to bring a dog without having to worry about bothering others. Beach and shoreline are very rocky, so humans should wear sturdy sandals.
Public beach is quite small, but you are allowed to walk along the private beaches on either side.

Very dog friendly!

Lots of outdoor seating and the staff is more than happy to see a four legged friend with you. Ordering and payment is done via phone so the interaction with staff is minimal.
