Rude staff
Buffalo Tap HouseApparently they are understaffed post Covid. We waited for several minutes without an employee to be seen, then as we left she came out and yelled at us. I understand short staffing but explain kindly don’t yell at us.
The only place… as far as I know
BC PizzaA decent spot for a quick meal. As far as I know it’s the only dog friendly place on the street. They have one table and some patio furniture with a coffee table for pets to sit at.
Great Service
BrewWe came from camping at Pocahontas State Park and called ahead to make sure they were still dog friendly. Not only were they friendly, they were waiting for us when we arrived and brought water and bones for our 3 pups!
Community Gem!
Vint Hill Dog ParkI have been to many dog parks, but this one takes the cake! A few things that go above and beyond:
1) the ground covering is mulch, which means even after a wet spell, it drains and your dog doesn’t become a muddy mess
2) they hang air horns and spray bottles on the trees in the event of a doggie misunderstanding so no sticking your hand in the middle of a fight (I’ve never seen it necessary to use these, but I like the insurance policy)
3) TONS of toys and agility equipment for the pups to play with! My Kira loves playing queen of the hill!
4) Many of the patrons are here every day, so those dogs know each other really well. It creates a stable pack that usually takes case of any misunderstandings before human intervention is needed.
5) Tons of seating under big trees and a nice pavilion if the weather is less than optimal for the human visitors
Definitely a favorite!
Bow wow!
Barrel Oak Winery & BreweryThis whole winery is dog-themed, and in the summer they have doggie events. Dogs are allowed in the tasting room and outdoors. Their wines are excellent and they usually have a food truck around. They can get INSANELY crowded, though, so if your pup needs a quieter venue, try Naked Mountain down the street!
