Love this spot.
Red Bluff Recreation AreaI live 30 minutes away and still will take a trip out. Lots of walking areas, access to the river and park benches. The old boat launch area is the best for water dogs!
Works in a pinch.
Samuel Ayer Park/Dog Island ParkThere are much better places around Red Bluff that are better for long walks or water access. But if you are looking for a place to stop for a bit on a road trip to let the dogs run around, this works. I wouldn't say don't go there, just there are better spots within a few miles.
Limited dog friendly beaches
Whiskeytown National Recreation AreaThis is a massive park with many trails and on leash areas. There are a few beaches that allow dogs, but it is best to check in at the visitor center to get the scoop on which ones are open at that time as some times they close down an area due to algae that can be harmful. Doesn't happen often but it does happen.
