Great views but...
Goodwin Lake TrailGreat views and the hike up was difficult, but be warned---the roads are terrible! We went up in a Honda Pilot and still bottomed out several times on rocks and large washout areas. The road has severe storm damage so 4WD and high clearance vehicles are a definite must right now on this road system. It took about 35 minutes or more just to reach the trail head driving slow up those roads. The views were spectacular though and the climb moderately difficult. We had a great time and a good work out. 3 bones just for the bad roads.
Great Place to Stop!
Monks House of Ale ReputeWe are currently on a cross country road trip and decided to stop here for dinner with our dog. He had a great time getting attention from staff and patrons. There were loads of great drink options and the food was good too. They offered a bowl of water for our fur friend right away and were very accommodating. Dogs were welcome inside and out. Definitely worthwhile to visit if you're in the area and want a chill place to grab a bite to eat and something to drink.
Comfortable and Pet Friendly
AeroStay HotelBreakfast is modest; just cold cereals and bagels/muffins/small yogurts/and a couple of fruits. Coffee was good. Our only complaint was our room was noisy; the pipes in the walls were LOUD and water could be heard dripping and running/draining all night, which woke us up constantly. It was worse than the plane noise from the airport. Other than that, nice hotel for a quick buzz through town.
