Great for dog lovers
Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant an IHG HotelThe staff was very welcoming of our 2 year old pup, and with several other dog parents with their pups staying there too. Poppy got lots of good pets and "Good girl!" praise throughout our stay. The location was perfect for both hitting up downtown Charleston & also exploring the kayaking & beauty of Shem Creek, with easy access to Sullivan's Island too. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic for Pups!
The Thunderbird InnThe Thunderbird Inn proved a wonderful stay for our time in Savannah! I loved the extra love that dogs are given - everything from a dog treat & collar tag upon arrival, to a conveniently located outdoor dog area, to a really welcoming staff. The only downside was that the environment can be quite noisy. It was also in amazing proximity to so many places we wanted to visit, so all in all the extra sound of foot traffic & cars felt worth the location. It's not luxurious but it is fun, clean, thoughtful and perfect for a stay with our dog!
Perfection
Leon's Fine Poultry & OystersLeon's food is some of the absolute best in the city, and so we were grateful to learn that our pup would be welcomed to join when we went to feast! The staff quickly brought her a water bowl when we arrived, and they were gracious in having her chill at our table with us outside on the covered patio. This meal was one of the highlights of the whole trip -- don't miss it!
Fabulous Food & Great Vibe
The WyldWe really enjoyed a low-key late lunch here. The food was totally delicious, with a beautiful view of the marsh and lots of flowers and herbs around the outdoor patio sections of the restaurant. The staff was welcoming of our pup and made it easy for us to have her chill near the dock while we ate. Definitely recommend!
Fabulous Doggie Adventure!
Coastal ExpeditionsWe were thrilled to do some kayaking along Shem Creek and were so grateful that Coastal Expeditions was so accommodating when we wanted to bring our 50 lb, mixed breed pup along with us. I got a single kayak and my partner got a double kayak so our dog could ride with him in the front of his ride. We provided our own doggie life jacket, and the staff were truly so kind in getting us all oriented and ready to go. We had a wonderful time exploring the creek and our Poppy seemed to really enjoy the adventure too. Very highly recommend!
Good for swimming
James Island County ParkWe brought our dog to visit while we were traveling, and it was a great place for her to get in some off-leash exercise. We also wanted to do some water activities with her but she's new to swimming, so it was wonderful to be able to bring her here and do some rookie swim lessons. I was freaked out a bit by the warning sign re: alligators, but thankfully we didn't see any while we were there. Appreciated the water hose for rinsing off our pup after she had a good time playing around.
Sunset with the Pup
Folly BeachKnowing that dogs aren't allowed on the beach till after 6p during summer hours, we arrived around 6:15p and had a great time taking our dog for a walk in the waves. Great way to enjoy the sun going down and get some exercise after a day of traveling in the car.
Beautiful & Lots of Shade
Forsyth ParkWe visited Savannah on a super hot summer day, so I loved being able to bring my pup here for a walk that was almost entirely in the shade of beautiful oak trees. We met other friendly on-leash dogs and it was great for people-watching too.
Great dog park
Herty Pines Dog ParkAfter a day of traveling, I brought my pup here for the opportunity to get some off-leash exercise. There were a lot of other dogs when we arrived & the crowd made my dog anxious, but there is plenty of room to spread out so she & I just found a less-crowded area and played catch for awhile until she warmed up to playing with the other pups. Really appreciated that there was so much shade to help keep the pups cooler on hot summer days.
Dolphins & Doggies
Captain Derek's Dolphin AdventureOur 50 lb mixed breed pup was welcomed by the staff with such sweetness, including some dog treats ready for her when we checked in. We saw way more dolphins than I expected, and I appreciated that we could BYOWine & food to enjoy while we learned about the ecosystem & island history. Would highly recommend!
