Stayed here one night on our road trip. Room was large and we got the end room on the first floor so we were close to the grass for the dogs. Room was a bit run down. Door did not latch all the way unless deadbolted. The fridge was not plugged in but it did work once we plugged it in.

Staff brought out a bowl of water for our dogs. Patio was shaded. Good food.

We visited Fort De Soto beach on our dogs first vacation. There is a huge fenced in dog park right in front of the dog beach. We didn’t use the park as we were there for the beach but it was a nice option. The dog beach was ok. The shoreline was made up of small shells so definitely glad we had our swim shoes. There were lots of dogs the day we went but we were able to find a spot to ourselves. My older dog is a rescue with poor socialization skills (part of the reason we took this trip, to get her more exposure) and she can come across as aggressive so we like to keep her separated from other dogs. She is a 10 yr old, 25lb schnauzer with barely any teeth so she really isn’t aggressive. We kept our dogs on leash, since we know their personalities. There were plenty of more well behaved dogs enjoying off leash swimming with their parents.

North Beach Clearwater starts north of Somerset St. We went early, about 8:30 so the dogs wouldn’t be out in the heat of the day. We got street parking right near the beach access both days. Unlike other dog beaches that give you the less desirable part of the beach this area was very nice with white sand and nice shoreline.

Stopped here with our two dogs on our way to Florida. We got a king suite so we would have more room for the dogs. Staff was very friendly. There was a small grassy area for the dogs that was fine for quick potty breaks during our short stay. Great breakfast!

We got a free pass to honeymoon island with our Airbnb. I read the reviews about the mosquitoes and brought deep woods off. As we got out of the car and started getting our stuff the mosquitoes were already everywhere. We headed down the trail with our dogs and it was AWFUL!! The trail is long and the whole time you are being smothered in mosquitoes! We finally made it to the “beach” if that is what you want to call it and the mosquitoes were so bad. We decided to head straight back to the car. On the way back I had a full blown panic attack the mosquitoes were so bad. I’m not usually someone who suffers from anxiety but it was literal torture.
We ended up driving over to Clearwater north beach and had a good time but all of our stuff and dogs were covered in mosquitoes and they got in the car. I would never ever ever go there again. So sad that the Dog beach is where no person or dog should ever go.
