Great Walks!

I just got back from a trip to Tampa for a conference and took my husky/shepherd with me. I read all of the reviews here and decided to go with this La Quinta, as I’ve had good luck with the chain in the past and it was close to
where I needed to be. The hotel itself is old and musty, but the staff is nice (especially the housekeepers- to a person they were amazing). The hotel allows large dogs and I was able to leave Marley there while I was working (she doesn’t bark and is super friendly and mellow). We were placed in what I called ‘the dog wing’ on the first floor with other pet owners close to a door for easy access outside. The hotel provides a couple of waste stations for pet owners, but sadly it looked like most people didn’t use them- the grounds were pretty covered in dog feces.
However, for me the shining star of staying here was the great place to go for long walk/runs with Marley. The hotel (next to a string of other hotels) is off of the busy highway on an access road that leads to a business park and into a nice residential area. There is a ton of good, safe sidewalk space to go for as long as you like, and the scenery is nice. I kept the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign into the door and HGTV playing when I left, so no one bothered Marley (but the staff always asked if I needed anything). The room itself was clean,....just old and the bathroom fan had mold around it. It can be difficult to find places that take large dogs, so I may go back there - but mainly for the great walking space off of the property, as well as access to healthy eating options close by like Panera and Taziki’s. I tried to go to one of the recommended restaurants where I could take my dog, but they were slammed and It wasn’t feasible. Happy travels!
