This was the cutest, true retro, Route 66-type motel with a beautiful view of a lake within very near walking distance. The bed was super comfortable. There was a large dog potty area with hedges around at the edge of the parking lot (not fenced, so keep runners on the leash). You can park right in front of your door. There are no other buildings nearby, so quite private, just another motel a good distance away (further than the lake.) We had no idea Carthage was such a cute town as we were just passing through. It was about 10-15 minutes off I-44. It was a delight, and we will be back!

The staff were so nice. The place was very quiet, smelled nice, clean, comfortable, accommodating. We stayed in a room with two queen beds. The beds were firmer than we’re used to (I’m the princess and the pea with a 4” latex mattress topper at home, so don’t go by me!), but even though they were firm, they were still very comfortable and no feelings of springs or anything like that, that I’ve read in other reviews. (Our stay was March 2026.) The floors were vinyl, which was nice, having dogs. There wasn’t a designated patch of grass for dogs, but there was an area in the back with a small patch of grass, and a nice grassy hill behind some apartments next door. I will definitely remember this place and stop again the next time I’m traveling through. If you need a very reasonably-priced, clean, dog-friendly, and people-friendly place to lay your head, this place gets 5 stars from me. Definitely recommend.
