I don’t even know where to start-right from the beginning we were greeted by the kindest woman, who immediately loved up on our two pups. They were brought water (we brought our own bowl) and we enjoyed the beautiful views from the back patio. The menu is perfection-so many options to choose from along with a few stories on how the restaurant came to be and the inspiration behind some of the dishes. We ordered a few drinks and highly recommend the blackberry cider. Dinner was a cup of gumbo, salmon with string beans and rice for me and the smoked wings meal for hubby with the collared greens and cole slaw. Our meal came with two of the best cornbread muffins I’ve ever eaten in my life. The food was amazing and I am NOT a foodie. The salmon was perfectly seasoned in what I can only describe as some sort of heavenly mix of honey and goodness, the string beans had sweet red pepper mixed in and the spanish rice was delicious. The gumbo was so fresh and tasted like I was sitting down in New Orleans at a family reunion and Uncle Joe made the family specialty. My husband said the smoked wings were delicious and he wants to work there when he retires and learn how to get the perfect amount of smoke on the meat like they had . He also raved about the greens and cole slaw-cleared his entire plate. But the real treat was the peach cobbler-do NOT leave there without eating it. The best I have ever had, hands down. eat here every day and just make my way through the menu, I would. I cannot say enough about this place-they were so kind to us, the owner popped over to see the pups and introduce herself, they gave us other local recommendations and the entire vibe was just wonderful. Do yourself a favor…..go! And don’t forget to get the peach cobbler! Delish all around!!!
