Dog Tolerant, not friendly.
Alpine HelenI would say Helen Georgia is dog tolerant, but not as friendly as some of the other neighboring towns. You will not find water bowls outside of the shops and most shops will only allow dogs as long as you can carry them in your arms. Most restaurants were accommodating.
Fried Okra to For
Cowboys & Angels Restaurant and BarThe food was amazing. Some of the best fried okra I've ever had at a restaurant. Service was great and they even took the dogs drink order before they even seated us. It was a nice difference from the German food at all of the other restaurants.
Awesome dog friendly town
Anthony's Italian RestaurantFront porch was really nice area overseeing the whole town and train station. Baked goat cheese marinara was amazing. Three layer turkey and ham club sandwich was perfect. Just the way they were meant to be made. There were dogs everywhere on the porch and in the streets. Very dog friendly town. We even met a toy Aussie on the porch. So cute.
Disappointed Roadside
Toccoa Riverside RestaurantWait Staff was wonderful. Menu provided a good variety to choose from without too many items to overwhelm. Food was ok, but was expecting local seafood, hopefully from the river the restaurant sits on. Most of the seafood offered I could get back home on the Florida Panhandle. Even the rainbow trout was farm raised. I was excited about the pup porch with a pup menu that was being advertised, but was extremely disappointed to find the pup porch didn't even have a river view. We specifically went so we could watch the river flow by and allow the dogs to enjoy the sites as well. All we got to see was traffic passing by the restaurant while all of the locals set on the back deck. Our babies are trained and well-mannered. Even when I asked about sitting on the back deck by the river, I was told no, they had to stay in the designated pup area. Restaurant has so much potential. Good luck!
Weiner-licious!
The Wacked Out Weiner of MiltonDogs love it here. Occasionally they'll get hot dogs for treats. Very pet friendly location.
Smiles and Attention
Louies Grill FusionAll were eager to meet Rusty and Abby-Gail. They brought bowls of ice water for their parched throats. Rusty and Abby-Gail enjoyed the child's plate with chicken strips and fries. Followed by a scoop of whipped cream.
