Friendly staff, creative menu

Local F.I.G

We and our pup had a warm welcome (including water bowl) when we sat outside. The owner stopped by to see how we were doing, as did the chef.. They were thrilled to hear about BringFido and that we'd found them there. We had a great burger in their signature style (with fig preserves and brie cheese) and a lamb kebab pita with lots of yummy fillings. All from the imagination of the owner, who is from Turkey. A very nice stopover on our way through town.

Friendly and close to historic center

Quality Inn Gettysburg Battlefield

Pleasant and very conveniently located -- close to the Gettysburg military cemetery, museums and monuments, and a leisurely walk to the historic center. There is a big, grassy field next door for doggo walks. For $10 extra we got a ground floor room with exterior access and designated parking spot, which was well worth it. Room smelled a tiny bit stale but was clean. For COVID safety, breakfast in the lobby was self-service -- all all pre-packaged items (biscuits, muffins, etc.), which was a nice touch. Pool looks nice though we didn't use it.

Convenient and clean

Best Western Plus Inn at Valley View

Typical chain motel -- nothing special, but clean. Mini-fridge and microwave, comfortable beds, average bathroom. Room was little tight for a crate and doggo to move around, but it worked fine for one night.

Our room was at the far end of the ground floor and we were able to use a back door (with keycard access) to park nearby and avoid walking through the lobby, which was convenient. However, the area was filthy with overflowing garbage and people standing around smoking. Minor inconvenience but less than pleasant.

Charming boutique hotel in historic building

Hotel On North

Definitely a cut above anywhere we've stayed with our dog before. The place is gorgeous, all newly renovated with the occasional antique as an accent, and super comfortable. Staff were very attentive. It's in a historic downtown area with a few restaurants/coffee shops within an easy walk. A nice park for walking the doggo (The Common) is a couple of blocks away. Great spot to base yourselves while exploring the Berkshires. We'll be back!

Funky and friendly

Grandview Lodge

We felt right at home at the Lodge, thanks to the warm welcome from the owners, an interesting and creative couple with two delightful small kids. Our dog was treated as an honored guest as well, complete with special treats.

The lodge is in a residential neighborhood, a few minutes from (charming) downtown Waynesville, with other houses nearby -- it's not some remote woodsy location. But it still has the feel of a relaxing getaway. The rooms are not fancy but have a quirky charm and are very clean and comfortable. The common areas are full of interesting decor and historical artifacts. Outside, at the fire pit, we (including pooch) joined nighly gatherings for a lively chat. Some guests come back regularly and are treated as old friends. We're already thinking we might do the same.

When in Waynesville, be sure to visit the Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery (listed under Attactions on bringfido). Your pooch gets as many free samples of gourmet treats as he or she desires, and there are lots of creative toys and souvenirs. Caution: danger of spoiled dogs!
