Beautiful
Mesa Lakes and Lost Lake TrailThis was a gorgeous hike! My 5 year old lab loved it. Like the other reviewer, we didn't make it to lost lake either. The uphill to get to Lost Lake is more intense than I expected and it was quite a steep scramble over rocks to get to lost lake. I think we were almost there when we turned around. Definitely will go back and do it the whole way! Except for that portion of the trail, it's an easy hike, especially around Mesa Lake.

Big dogs welcome
Origin Red Rocks a Wyndham HotelMy 80lb lab and I checked into a different hotel in Golden, CO and left an hour later because it was so shady. I called Origin and they had an open room. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. There is a non refundable $50 fee and you and leave your dog in the room alone, but for a one night stay it was great. Nice area, gas station across the street and several restaurants. Close to Red Rocks, although we didn't make it there this time. Next time! I definitely want to go back to really enjoy the area.

Not for solo female travelers
La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Denver GoldenI obviously didn't read enough of the reviews. The location and price were good and the reviews I read were positive, but I checked in and left an hour later to find a safer hotel. Lots of sketchy people just hanging out, lurking outside my room, smoking, watching my coming and going. Pretty sure I saw a dog fight in the parking lot. The hotel itself was old but fairly clean and the staff was friendly. If you're not traveling alone, it's tolerable for a one night stop. But if you're alone, go somewhere else.

Friendly staff, clean hotel, not the best neighborhood
La Quinta by Wyndham Sioux FallsThis was the first dog friendly hotel I'd stayed at with my 90 pound pup. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean. There was a faint dog odor in the room, but nothing horrible. We were placed near the end door which went right out to the pet area outside. The only downside, I did not feel super safe taking the dog outside after dark by myself.

Plywood window?
GrandStay Residential Suites Rapid CityThe staff was very friendly and helpful, gave my dog a treat at check in. The lobby was clean and neat. But then we got to our room (a 2 bedroom suite) to find that one of the bedrooms' windows was boarded over with plywood. When we called the front desk to ask for a different room, they said they had "forgotten" about the window and that they had been "trying to get it fixed for a month." And they had no other rooms. Honestly if it wasn't for the window, I would have overlooked a lot of other things. But that only made the loose tile and water damage wall in the bathroom and the dusty walls even more unbearable.
