Tons of fun

Egg-Paw-Looza

april 10, 2022 was their second annual Egg-Paw-Looza and it was a lot of fun. The Westfield park had plenty of space for all the doggos and there was a nice walking trail for when you needed to get away from the excitement. The vendors they brought into the event were a good mix of dog items and items for humans. The food truck was fantastic. Two different egg hunt times were available, we missed the first one but the second was a lot of fun. Glad that I stumbled upon this event through BringFido because it was the best first egg hunt for my pup.

Muddy in Fall

Rum Village Dog Park

So we already knew the ground was going to be a muddy mess due to the weather, but due to heavy use it was more muddy then expected. the Large dog park is mostly dirt from what we could tell. So when we come back we will pack extra towels.
Because the dog park used to be several other things (there is a sign about the place’s history) there is almost a perfect loop that is paved which was nice for the humans.
It is a fairly large area so we where able to get some good sprinting to tire out our pup.
The trash hadn’t been taken out and the sign for the water being shut off wasn’t immediately noticeable (I honestly didn’t see it until we left because it had faded)

Large Shade Trees

Castlen Dog Park

This park has some large old trees that provide lots of shade. However due to the shade I can see a rainy day becoming very muddy due to the large dirt area at the entrance gate. The water fountain is outside the dog park so I would advise bringing a dish so you don’t have to go out all the time.
Current Covid-19 restrictions say only 10 humans at a time so it’s not crowded.

Good Food And Atmosphere

Corner Bakery Cafe

We went here wanting an “American breakfast” but not leaving our pup behind. They have a large heated patio which was very nice on the cool morning. You do have to go inside to order, but they give you a number and bring the food to you allowing your pup to not be alone for long.
I didn’t ask for a bowl of water but I’m sure they would have provided if needed. As soon as our food was delivered, the employee asked if he could bring a treat out. That little touch was very nice and unexpected. The food for the humans was delicious pancakes, eggs and bacon with many other options. Fresh from the oven baked goods in the morning hours, too.

Large Park Lots Of Parking

Bark Park at H.P. Thomas Park

2 good size dogs parks, the large dog area being nearly 5 acres. Should always bring your own water 1. because of the size there is only one fountain inside the over 30lb park and 2. because the water is already turned off for the winter as of this post (Oct 2). Lots of seating areas for humans and even a large shelter to provide shade. (Not well shaded at the moment but the trees are still small) Overall we loved it more than parks back home and will be back.

Get Away From The Bustle

Riverfront Dog Park at Ascend

This park may be tiny and not as nice as some but it allowed our pup to have a place to calm down after being jostled in downtown crowds. Yes there will be some homeless around, unfortunately many camps are around the River.
