Lovely hotel but not as dog-friendly as they’d like you to believe

Kimpton Marlowe Hotel an IHG Hotel

This is a gorgeous hotel with a vibe of luxury and they did allow my dogs to be left in the room unattended while I was working (I came back on lunch breaks to walk them). BUT I had a tough time locating the entrance because it was barricaded off due to a wedding reception happening the day I arrived. The concierge was very nonchalant and unhelpful via phone as I struggled to locate the doorman and eventually gave up and hauled my luggage up from the parking garage over several trips. After settling in to my room and feeding my dogs, we went down to take a walk and pee break but there was total confusion in the lobby, the front entrance was closed off to those not attending the reception and no instructions informing us of how to exit the building (other than to the parking garage, but obviously we needed a grassy area) as I scanned the crowd for an employee and someone pet one of my dogs my other dog apparently relieved himself inside and they allowed me to walk thru the event. Instructions were given to a side service door, which was directly behind the conceive desk - very awkward and not at all intuitive. The party was so loud I couldn’t hear the tv in my room, talk on the phone, or sleep - and I was on the 7th floor! When we went down for our bedtime walk, out the service door, an employee literally yelled at me and my dogs to “keep it moving!” multiple times and betrayed me for the previous incident where my dog accidentally peed inside. Which only caused me to stop, startled, and my nervous dog to immediately start peeing, which should be ok as we were outside in the driveway, but apparently that was not ok, although the 6 pillars in the driveway were covered in dog pee at all times and even faded from whatever chemicals were used to clean them. This man was loud and rude anytime I encountered him during my weeklong stay and I felt uncomfortable and nervous every time I needed to take my dogs out. The loud wedding reception kept us awake until 11pm when it finally stopped. The rest of my stay was soured by day 1. The park next to the hotel, which is the only grassy area, would be nice except there were multiple warning signs about pesticide spray in the grass, notifying us to keep pets and kids off the grass. It’s also a city park that closes at 10pm. Not exactly ideal for dogs who’s bladders don’t just shut off at 10pm. I do not recommend this hotel despite its prime location.

Small, Clean Park With Art

Gulch Dog Park

Stopped at the Gulch Dog Park on our way out of town. it is small, but very clean. has both a large dog side and small dog side. Several cute murals great for Instagram photos😋 Free one hour parking in adjacent lot. Went on a Tuesday morning and it was empty except for the maintenance guy. Our pups enjoyed a quick run and had fun.
