Sometimes stopping for food in a small town can be a crap-shoot and when traveling with a pooch options can be slim.
Smoking’ Eagle in LeRoy was a winner. Being unfamiliar with the establishment, we came through the front door and no one batted eye that I had a dog in tow. A very friendly bartender directed us to the back patio for outdoor seating (overlooking the Oatke Creek) and we were met by an equally friendly server. There is indeed table service outside during the summer and a sizable parking lot that leads directly to the patio. The Reuben sandwich and Romain salad were top-notch, and Frida was very appreciative of her bowl of ice water. If I lived closer, I would definitely come back here for lunch! Oh, and nearby is the Jell-O museum - who knew that was a thing?

Not too far off the highway, the Fort Worth Velvet Taco is well worth the detour. The taco creations are varied and delicious and no one even blinked when we strolled in with our dog to order at the counter. There is a covered patio for dining in - right on the road, but not much traffic - and the server said if the weather is inclement and the dog leashed and well-behaved, one could eat inside without a problem.

After reading so many reviews saying this place was overgrown and unkempt we were so pleased to see it mowed and well maintained! It is spacious, has varied terrain, supplies of poop bags and receptacles, and fresh water stations. A local told me the original owner of the lot has passed away and it is now run via volunteers and donations. It is well worth a detour off the highway and a donation to the cause (donation info on sign at front gate)

Friendly local brewpub was very welcoming of me and my small furry friend, Frida
