Good for Large Off- Leash Dogs w/ Recall

Laurelhurst Park Off Leash Area

I however, have a small terrier mix that will bolt towards squirrels and is fearful of large dogs. I am in the park almost daily and have seen a range of bad behavior. People let their dogs off leash outside of the off leash area where dogs have no sense of recall, don't listen AT ALL and have come charging towards me and my dog outside of the off leash area. Luckily the park is huge and there are 2-3 paths you can take on either side of the park and most people abide by the leash rules in the park. The off leash area with no fence is in the center of the park directly across from the pond and there are clearly marked signs where the off leash section is and how your dog should be leashed otherwise. I wish people followed the rules. It would be even better if Laurelhurst put up a fence for the dogs. The park is huge and it's a shame the dog park doesn't have a fence.

Loved it!

Hollywood Dog Park at Normandale Park

My dog Archie is a rescue. For his 3rd birthday, I decided we'd go to the dog park for the first time and he had a blast. He is nervous of big dogs and I love that I can bring him here and he is comfortable. It's so great that this park is close to inner Portland, fenced in, and has separated areas for dogs of different sizes. There are two big dog sections and one small dog section. There is also and area of benches to sit down on inside the small dog section as well as a double gate. The small dogs can still sniff through the fence at the big dogs, which is great and helps Archie learn that big dogs are OK. I didn't see poop anywhere and everyone was very friendly!
