We could not be happier with Lighthouse Point Park

Lighthouse Point Park

Today was an Adventure. Big time.

Loaded the car and headed off to our first dog beach. Reviews were mixed but for $10, it was worth a try.

We instead paid $20 for an annual pass because just from arriving, we were met by some very friendly people. Parking was easy and it was a short distance to the ocean. the pathway from the car to the. each was hard packed soul, easy to walk and maneuver a cart on.

My wife brought the dogs while I pulled the cart. For us, we traveled lighter than ever before. Once on the beach, there were plenty of areas to set up. Wildlife Officers patrolled frequently and dog water stations and poop pick up bags and trash cans were easily accessible.

After setting up chairs and table, off to the water we went. This was Hops first time in and Barley’s first salt water experience. They ran to the water’s edge, came to an abrupt halt, and had to be dragged in. Other dogs were playing but ours just like to be different. Or difficult. One of the two. Maybe both.

Barley calmed down once he was held and his belly button was out of the water. Hops thrashed repeatedly and both of us are sporting scratches to our arms and chest.

The water was slightly cool and although it was an inlet where we could see the working lighthouse, the ocean told us that we have found a new favorite beach.

No poo laying around, officers patrolled frequently, and everyone, both man and beast, were joyful to be around.

Afterwards we found a dog friendly bar and restaurant: Hidden Treasure Rum Bar and Grill. Like 6 year olds, we ordered the extra fancy plastic lighthouse souvenir cups. Best hush puppies ever, excellent shrimp and fish.

If we had a hotel nearby, we would have napped for hours. The ride home we encountered heavy rain and the dogs slept soundly. When we got home, laundry was started as the dogs had a shower. We finally had our nap while our normalcy returned.

Another great, successful adventure together.
