Grassy Baseball Field
Dog Park at Vernon ParkNeighborhood park for dogs to run around a grassy old baseball field, 95% fenced in besides entrance at 36 Vernon Ave. Just a couple of other dogs also off leash when we went on a Sunday morning.
Easy Walk
Middletown Valley ParkEasy walk along the pebbled path, did 2 loops with the dogs on a rainy Saturday morning, didn’t see anyone else. Lots of benches along the path if you wanted to sit and rest. Bags and garbage cans at the different entrances. Not a problem for us but be aware of animal carcasses along the path, saw a bird and rabbit that had been eaten by predators.
Sunset Walk
Cliff WalkLike others said, well paved and dogs on leash. Great view for the humans and lots of sniffing on the grass for the pups. Went at sunset so got a bit dark on the walk back but made it back ok with lights on their collars.
Blue Trail Loop
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation TrailDid the Blue to White to Ridge Trail loop, about 7.34 miles just under 4 hours. Definitely download the map on All Trails bc it’s not well marked, go counterclockwise. Took 2 dogs, very manageable, some rock scrambles but they are experienced hikers so no issues.
Flat and Easy
Ashokan Rail TrailFlat groomed trail, lots of bikers so 100% keep your dog on leash and be aware of bikers coming from both directions. Not difficult, some shade and views.
Huge Dog Park & Canoes
Kenneth L. Wilson CampgroundNice campground with a huge fenced in dog park so dogs can run around off leash safely. Dogs also allowed to join on kayak & canoes for $25/day. Fire pits and hot showers available too.
Great spot by the pond
Russell Pond CampgroundSpacious first come first serve campsites by a pond. Hot showers ($2.50 for 5 mins) and a dog friendly hiking trail. Nearby breweries and restaurants in Lincoln just 15 mins away and hiking in the White Mountains!
Extremely spacious campsites
Harold Parker State Forest CampgroundVery large campsites, lots of space for dogs to explore within the campsite. Free hot showers and toilets. Hikes in the area and restaurants in Andover if you want a meal.
Dog friendly patio & staff
Elm Square Oyster Co.Very friendly staff, immediately brought us dog bowls and treats while we got seated on the outdoor patio. Oysters were delicious.
Easy hike to Franconia Falls
Lincoln Woods TrailEasy flat hike to Franconia Falls from this trailhead, a little uphill once you get closer to the falls. $5 to park at the day-use lot.
Huge patio and lawn
One Love BreweryWe came here 3 days in a row, sitting in various spots including under the covered awning which protects from the rain, on the upper patio with and umbrella, and on the lower patio with an umbrella. All times the servers brought water in bowls out for the dogs. Food and drinks was equally great for humans (nachos and brownie sundae!). Would 100% return if we’re back in the area!
Dog friendly patio
OttoGave us a container for water, lots of ice water inside to easily refill, fence around the patio area to easy to tie leashes to it while eating the yummy pizza!
Incredibly friendly staff
Logan's Bar & GrillWe stopped by for a couple of beers after a hike, the staff were incredibly friendly to the pups while we sat at one of the tables under the canopy which was great cover from the sun and rain.
SUP on the lake
Woodford State Park CampgroundGood campsites, bathroom and coin operated showers. Many sites with dogs. Took the dogs stand up paddle boarding on the lake which we rented ($20/hr per board) and hiked Woodford Trail (2.7 miles)
Great garage area
Lemon Tree BreweryGarage area is dog friendly which provides shade and cover from the rain. Beer and wine, limited food options
Muddy but good trail
Pillsbury Mountain TrailSuper muddy but fun (bring lots of baby wipes or towels to wipe off at the end), a couple of stream crossings, all manageable by dogs or easy to help over if you have a handle on their backpack or harness. Mostly shaded so didn’t have to worry about sun/heat given the distance.
Dog-Friendly Campsites
Moffitt Beach CampgroundSpacious campsites, easy to attach leashes to picnic tables. Lots of people walking their dogs along the road of the campground. Not allowed on the beach or picnic areas but lots of hiking nearby or breweries that are dog friendly.
Only Option in the Winter
O'Connor's Public HouseOnly spot that allows dogs inside the bar which means it’s an all year round option! Super dog friendly staff. For humans: No food but you can bring in your own from the many other restaurants on Mamaroneck Ave
Dog Friendly Street Patio
Salsa PicanteGreat frozen margaritas and food, dog friendly on the street level patio
Lots of space and good wine
Robibero WineryVery dog friendly, lots of space outdoors with good spacing between tables. Dogs allowed inside in the tasting room and on the wrap around patio as long as they are on leash. Good wine, cheese, and pizza (pizza is cash only) too!
Allowed on Back Patio
Wolf & Warrior Brewing CompanyLike the other review mentions, dogs are allowed to walk through the front entrance inside to the back patio. Good beer and food options. We went in May in the late afternoon and was chilly since there wasn’t much sun so dress warmly for the weather.
Amazing but FIREWORK WARNING
Fiesta Island ParkLike others noted, it’s big, spacious, grassy fields and beach all in one place. It is almost fully fenced in and most of the time, it wouldn’t be an issue except when Seaworld sets off fireworks just after sunset on certain days. Dozens of dogs including Beans ran past the fence opening that is along the beach by the entrance and out of the dog park for miles, even trying to swim across the bay to hide from the noise. Check the Seaworld website to confirm firework schedules and leash your dog by sundown on those days!
