Traveled here for the day from Albuquerque with our pup. My wife and I picnicked here at the dog park while our pup ran around. Very clean nice place to hang out.

one of our stops when doing cross country trips. very nice.
- JodieApr 25, 2022Very nice dog park!
We stopped last week on our way from TX to UT. The park was nice and clean, and quite large. Very close to Old Town Gallup (which is worth exploring if you have time, we did not). There is a small dog section too. We were there during the week about 10am and no one else was there. Was a great place for us all to stretch our legs.

Quick stop going through town. Locals were friendly. My pup had a good run with the other dogs. Very large space for running.
- KathleenSep 29, 2021Nice park for traveling dogs
Clean,. Well maintained. Shade and places to sit. Working water fountain inside park.
- RuthJun 21, 2021Clean, safe dog park
This was our 2nd visit in a month (don't live in NM) BOTH TIMES I was very pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of this park. Not a single pile of poop left behind. Impressive for such a big park. It is VERY well-maintained. Someone filled up buckets if clean water in both parts of the park prior to our 10 a.m. arrival. There were poop bags & clean trash bins provided in multiple locations. It was very easy to find.
The dogs loved it. Lots of open space. Even a few agility pieces there.
There was at least one agility object in the timid dog area also. - LisaJun 1, 2021What a great park!
beautiful park close to downtown. pet bags and water fountains. really clean park with shady spots and places to sit. highly recommend!
- ConnallyMar 28, 2021Nice big park
This was a really nice, big park. Shaded picnic tables. It was a pleasant surprise. Our dog was a happy boy to get out and stretch his legs. We had to walk our dog on a leash because he was still recovering from surgery, but it’s big enough to get a nice walk in. No other dogs were in the park while we were there.
- JillMar 11, 2020Nice find
THis park was a nice find. Right off the highway. Parking lot was big enough for our truck and fifth wheel to turnaround and park. Park was clean. Red clay/stone walkway and mulched middle. Plenty of garbage cans. Large Dog area fenced was well maintained around fence line.
- CyndiSep 14, 2019Still A Great Stop On Road Trip
Remembered this park from a couple of years ago and stopped by while passing through on road trip.
Still a great stop - big park, water, easy to find, rarely anyone there.
Didn’t encounter any sticker burrs. Like the boulders and path around the permitted. Bags were stocked and waste baskets were clean.
Only dropped one bone because i would like more shade and some grass though I know that would be difficult in this area. - WendyJul 7, 2019Surprised To Find!
A surprise to find this park close to the highway! It is actually a quite large dog park, with an area for small dogs and an area for large dogs. Working drinking fountains for dogs and humans, picnic tables, covered areas, and some agility items. Mulch base. No goat heads noted. 3 other dogs showed up and all were friendly. Convenient parking and easy access. Great stop for our dog while traveling across country!

We travel from home to participate in AKC events. This trip was Tx to Oregon. Gallup, NM’s city dog park was the best we have visited around the country. It is a large fenced (2 areas), safe facility. The city has planted numerous trees, left large rocks ( the boys loved them) and provide baggies to pick up what the dogs left. There were picnis tables and several agility objects and fountains for owner and dog. The ground was mulched and was not unlike the native grounds.
Our 5 retrievers enjoyed the ability to roam and relax after hours traveling in kennels. We visited about 8pm and 6 am. We only met one very nice resident with his two dogs. There were no people loitering and we felt completely safe.
Thank you City of Gallup, NM! Your residents and visitors should really appreciate the nice grounds developed for dogs to relax without leashes.

11/19/17: Decent sized park easy to get to off the I40. Surface is mostly bark with some small grass patches and a gravel path around the perimeter. Has picnic table, some boulders, and a few obstacles for the dogs to run around.
Didn't encounter any sticker burrs. Park was empty on Sunday morning around 10am. Water station wasn't working. Good stopover for a 20 minute sniff and poop. - AprilMore than a year agook park
Stopped on a long drive to let the dogs run. Read the reviews and it was better than expected. No grass but not much of that anywhere in the area anyway. Lotaburger across the street so we had lunch on the picnic table under a tree, nice. Walked around the big dog part and no stickers this time of year. Some cars came up but I think they were eating lunch in their cars. Ok, but no do over.

My husband, me and our 3 dogs stopped here during our cross-country move to Phoenix. We were surprised to see that it was empty when we pulled up (2:00 on a BEAUTIFUL Saturday afternoon). It was a great park in theory, even with the lack of grass (understandable for the area). It was fairly spacious and had an area for the small dogs and large dogs. It also had water fountains for the humans and their furry friends too. But man, oh man... the sticker burrs! Within about 2 minutes all three dogs were limping. We even tried both sides (large and small) since no one was there with the same result. Our bassett mix was too scared to even walk to the gate when we decided to leave. Too bad, it was fairly nice otherwise!

The park itself is pretty awesome, the location however, is not. It's in a rough looking part of town, hidden back in a corner behind buildings. Myself, my three little girls, and two dogs were driving through on a cross country trip. Stopped here to let my dogs out, no one was there. We were having a pretty good time until this silver car pulled up. It sat there off for a good 10 minutes, then a man got out. He walked into the park, said nothing. I said hi, thinking maybe he was going to ask if my dogs were friendly before he brought his in? No. He had no one with him and no dog. He just kinda meandered around the park looking around until I realised he was alone and (ran) out of there. As soon as I left he left and drove away. Obviously a creepy guy isn't the dog park's fault, but it definitely wasn't a safe area where you can be seen/heard easily.
- StephanieMore than a year agonice little park
We liked the park but it was hot!!! Definitely needs more shade. We used it to stretch legs on our trip to Oregon, only stayed 15-20 min though because of the heat. Decent size and separated dogs by size under 30lbs and over 30lbs. Also we almost missed it... It's tucked into trees by a dollar general about 5 min from I40 🐶
- JennaMore than a year agoWheres the grass?
Barely any grass and dog poop is everywhere. They had water fountains for the dogs which was great.
- PeterMore than a year agoWonderful dog park
This is a very nice, extremely well kept dog park open to the public. Perfect place to stop and stretch everybody's legs when traveling.
- JessicaMore than a year agoAwesome!
My two labs love to visit this dog park on our long car trips. Its close to the highway and passes several gas stations and restaurants so that we all get to eat, exercise, and refuel on the way!
