We travel cross country to AKC hunting tests. Dog parks for me is a place to allow our dogs to relax and get out of their kennels.

Dog Park at Lewis Kingman Park

Traveling from Tx to Or and we stopped by this dog park to air our 5 trained labs. We did not want socializing or playtime - just a few minutes to allow each to relieve itself.

The lrg dog area had one lrg dg, one area was padlocked, and the sm dog was not being used. To avoid any conflict or extended time spent, we aired one dog at a time in the sm dog area. Aired 4 and then a dog fight and then a people fight occurred. Another traveling couple removed their dogs from that area and came to the sm dog area (their dogs were not involved).

The dog park is very well kept up but appears to have a lot of useage for the size of the facility. During the short tome we were there at least 5-6 canines visited each area - not including our dogs. One local related that the police have been called on several occasions regarding conflict.

If you visit, take care in choosing whether to allow your dogs to enter with others. Avoiding muddle of day might be adviseable. Thank you Kingman, Az for providing a nice place to allow dogs to be off leash.

Great Dog Park

City of Gallup Dog Park

We travel from home to participate in AKC events. This trip was Tx to Oregon. Gallup, NM’s city dog park was the best we have visited around the country. It is a large fenced (2 areas), safe facility. The city has planted numerous trees, left large rocks ( the boys loved them) and provide baggies to pick up what the dogs left. There were picnis tables and several agility objects and fountains for owner and dog. The ground was mulched and was not unlike the native grounds.

Our 5 retrievers enjoyed the ability to roam and relax after hours traveling in kennels. We visited about 8pm and 6 am. We only met one very nice resident with his two dogs. There were no people loitering and we felt completely safe.

Thank you City of Gallup, NM! Your residents and visitors should really appreciate the nice grounds developed for dogs to relax without leashes.
