- NatalieJul 24, 2023Nice place to visit with dogs
Translated from French: Me and my partner went to visit the plantation with our two small dogs. The temperature was extremely hot and humid but despite everything, it was very pleasant. The dogs can go everywhere with us (even to the café) except for the visit to the main house (which is very quick at around 25 minutes and my husband stayed with the dogs during this time). What we preferred was the walk on the site which lasts about 30 minutes, very interesting.

We spent about a half day here. It’s very dog friendly with the only places not open to dogs being the main house and the slave dwellings, each of which has been converted into a small museum space on different topics of the enslaved peoples’ culture. There is a Gullah culture presentation several times a day and it is excellent. It’s held at an outdoor theater so our pups were able to join us. The house tour is brief and not really worth it, but the grounds are amazing and very dog-friendly. Overall a fun day.
- LisaOct 19, 2022Overrated and Expensive
We went to the plantation with our dog and it was an ok outing but expensive for a few talks and a house tour of 3 rooms on the main floor with a guide that spent most of his time making stupid jokes rather than telling us more about the contents of the home and it’s history. My mother missed out on her tour even though the scheduler knew we were tag teaming due to the dog.
- SusaSep 3, 2022Interesting in pretty surroundings
A number of dogs a warm Saturday in September. Nice to walk around the property that is beautiful. we skipped the house tour as we would have had to take turns. the cafe does not have any food and not that much to choose from. all staff except the one in the cafeteria was very nice and friendly to us and our dog.

Admission is kind of pricy but it’s a fun experience. You can do everything but the house tour (and maybe the wagon ride and butterfly pavilion) with your dog. I highly recommend the Gullah/Geechee (Southeastern African American culture) talk, which is almost worth the price of admission alone. There are also some stables (horses may or may not be inside), a beautiful garden, a cafe, some history talks about the colonial and early American life of both the slaves and the plantation owners, and of course several brick slave cabins that have been converted into a black history exhibit that covers from the foundation of Boone Hall Plantation to 2008.
I only gave this place 4/5 because there weren’t many places to properly escape the summer heat with the dog. I don’t recommend coming here in the summer. Try spring instead. - PaigeOct 23, 2020Such A Nice Walk and Beautiful Scenery
Dogs are allowed in the on the property. The price of tickets are $27 dollars but we spent around 3 hours there. Dogs are just not allowed inside the house. The house tour only takes around 15 minuets. My husband took it first while I waited with our Aussie.
- EileenOct 11, 2018Lovely vacation spot
We spent the good part of a day here. My husband did the house tour while I toured the gardens with me dog. (My husband was a bit disappointed in the House tour) I found lots of things to do with my dog - the slave house tours and I could bring my dog into the slave houses, the Gulla theater, the gardens, the Butterfly Cafe for lunch, and nice walks under the live oaks. Plenty of photo ops. My husband did the butterfly exhibit himself. We were very pleased that we went and our dog was so welcome. Each “tour” was short enough that we could trade off our dog walking while one of us went inside. It was a lovely day.
- JimMore than a year agoDon't go
It might be nice and it is understandable to prohibit dogs from the mansion, but all you can do is walk some of the grounds. For 21 dollars that is expensive walking. Not alow wed on the tram at Boone hall but allowed at Magnolia. Ask what can I do with my dog before you pay for your admission
