Reviews
Visitors found The Island in Pigeon Forge to be a highly pet-friendly destination, with most stores and restaurants welcoming dogs. They enjoyed walking around the area, visiting shops, and dining at pet-friendly establishments like Mellow Mushroom and Margaritaville. Some noted that while the area was generally dog-friendly, not all stores clearly indicated their pet policies, and the hot pavement could be an issue for some pups.

Went in to a few places he made his own build a bear and tons of friends

Super nice place to walk around with our furbaby! We ate at Mellow Mushroom that welcomed us in their shaded patio seating! Timberwolf did NOT accept our furbaby. We weren't interested in going inside the stores but saw other furbabies going in the stores. We rode the ferris wheel and Luna loved it!
- HollieApr 5, 2024Pups 1st Vacation
We brought our dog for the first time. Dogs are welcomed to walk around the island as long as they are leashed. Asked information what shops he could go in (he is not a service dog). They told us that the shops would have something in their windows saying if they could go in but we didn’t see anything. It was a great place to bring pup to stretch his legs and let him walk after driving for 2 hours. He just loved sitting at the fountains under a tree and people watch.

All of the shops we wanted to go into we asked if we can bring our dog in and there was never an issue. Be prepared for the large amount of people asking to pet your dog, but everyone was super polite and friends!
- VanesaSep 22, 2023Get shoes for your pup and get ready for fun
Every store and activity we wanted to visit let us with our pup, even the mirror maze, which we decided not to do because Daisy was very confused by it. Make sure you get shoes for the dog. People love talking about them (helps with dog socialization) and the doggies paws are protected.
- MichelleAug 11, 2023Good activity with pup
Most stores were very welcoming of Obi the Goldie, despite his larger size and big energy. While dog friendly, there are not many potty areas.
- HumphreyAug 5, 2023Fun but beware of hot pavement
super fun - great outdoor attraction to explore with pup. however, not everything accessible to pups: they can’t ride the trolly; pups paws get hot hot on pavement; only a few stores dog friendly
- WhitneyMay 27, 2023Trolly
super dog friendly stores but they can’t ride the trolley and the pavement gets hot hot

I wanted to try him on the Ferris wheel before we took him on the skylift. He did great. everyone there was so friendly. We saw a few other dogs also.
- DeborahNov 3, 2022Dogs are loved here
Lots of great places for the dogs to walk around. we had photos done at Ole Tyme Photo and they are pet friendly. Nash even had his own photo shoot and they were so patient with him. Ole Smoky moonshine let him in and e n let him on the counter while I sampled.
- DeanneOct 30, 2022Very pet friendly
a lot of stores allow pets. some even had signs that said pets welcome. everyone was super friendly.
- LauraSep 1, 2022Great place for dogs!
We had a wonderful time at The Island with our dog Daisy. All of the stores we went into were dog friendly. We ate at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and were able to sit outside on the patio with Daisy.
- JamiAug 20, 2022Sky wheel
Our experience was good. But our experience with the sky wheel wasn’t the greatest. There is like 40 cars but they only have 1 car that allows pets due to allergies. we had to wait for like 20 mins to get on even though there was no one else in that cart. but other than that it was a nice experience.
- SamanthaJul 7, 2022Fun day
We went to the Island and spent a few hours here. We played on the arcade and did some rides and lots of shopping. My Yorkie was in a stroller so I just wheeled her in to every store and had no problem. This place gets busy so a super nervous dog would be uncomfortable. My only complaint is there is no designated area for your dog to use the bathroom. I had to walk down a hill and put the back gate for some grass so she could potty. Other than that it was a fun day!
- KarenJul 6, 2022Good place to stretch the paws
We went to the Island in the evening on a hot day to get a good walk in with the girls before dinner. The only place we went in was the distillery for a tasting and they welcomed us with our two dogs. There is a lot of people around and recommend your dogs are social.
- MaryJun 8, 2022Perfect outing
We had a great time there with our dog: everyone was very welcoming and our dog gots tons of attention. Highly recommend
- HannahApr 8, 2022The Pawfect Place!
Extremely dog friendly, including all the stores! We sat under Mellow Mushroom’s patio area and sipped on daiquiris while Gunner enjoyed basking in the sun!
- JACKIENov 3, 2021Dog Friendly!
Visited for someplace to walk the pup. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. One shop owner even came outside to let us know she was dog-friendly. We enjoyed walking around with our dog, watching the light/water show, visiting a few shops, eating at Margaritaville, and walking along the river. We will definitely return!
- TeresaOct 26, 2021No dogs on trams
Dogs are not allowed on trams from parking lots so if you have mobility issues, please be aware of the walk from the lot to the shopping/restaurant area.
- JoeOct 24, 2021Very nice and friendly
we took 2 pups for the day. We went in almost every shop and ate outside. just take a travel bowl for water with you.
- CandiceOct 19, 2021We loved the island
We have been to the island many times before. This was our first trip with the dogs. We were very welcomed by everyone at the island! We have a 1 year old Chow Chow with hip dysplasia so we had them both in a wagon pulling them behind us. The Mellow Mushroom even allowed us to pull the dogs in their wagon inside and the servers was very understanding and helpful! Definitely recommend the island for pet parents!!!
- ErinSep 8, 2021One of My Favorite Places
I loved the vibe here during the early evening hours. We found that most of the shops we wanted to visit were accommodating towards our dog. Just a cool spot in general. FYI: We did not try to eat here.
- DestiniAug 25, 2021Not Dog Friendly
every restaurant here turned us away. We only came to do something with the dog. we ended up leaving to find food elsewhere
- AnnaJul 7, 2021Great Option for Dog Parents!
We vacationed in the area and never leave our dog behind while away from home. (We rarely leave her for anything even at home!) Anyway, this obviously ties us down & limits our options on activities to enjoy, so we were thrilled to learn we could bring her to The Island. Fun walking around & seeing shops as well as watching some kiddos getting their nerve up to mini bungee jump. Again, something we couldn't normally enjoy if they weren't dog friendly. Would be an easy 5 stars if more stores/restaurants would post dog friendly or not. The whole place also stays REALLY packed. Side note: trail by the parking lot along the Pigeon River is perfect for walking the pooches as well!
- SarahMay 20, 2021Great time
such a nice area to walk around and enjoy the fountain and multiple shops with our dog !
- KaylaMay 8, 2021Fun for the whole family...pups included!
We came here to give us something to do during the day, the pups loved it and loved the attention and all the lights and water! Some stores allowed pups and the ones that did were so sweet and even had treats! No one made us feel unwelcome with the dogs. The only thing they could do, is for more stores to make it clear on the door/window whether they are pet friendly or not, just for convenience but everything was great! Super fun place for everyone to go of all ages!
- JesseMay 5, 2021No problems
We only really came so we could eat on the patio at the Mellow Mushroom, we were able to do that no problem. Dogs enjoyed walking around the island. Island does have a nice family environment.
- FrancesNov 23, 2020Small Dog Welcomed
I brought my small 15 pound dog and was welcomed in every store I went in. Margaritaville was dog friendly on their patio. Very busy there!
- JeannieNov 20, 2020Dog Friendly But Poor At Masking
Nov 2020 and signs everywhere about mandatory masks yet many store workers not masking. everyone was super dog friendly. many adorable shops. lots for the whole family. just wish workers would have been better at COVID-19 precautions.
- TaylorOct 25, 2020Nice Area
The Island is a fairly large area which allowed us plenty of space to walk our Golden Retriever. I saw a few posted dog friendly shops, but I feel like they’re more small dog friendly than large dog. It’s just such a busy area and some shops are small that we felt it would be better to just walk instead. It would probably be better at a less busy time.
- TabathaOct 17, 2020Very Pet Friendly
All of the stores welcomed our furbaby. The only exception are the cosmetic places, which we didn’t go in.
loved it and so did our furbaby - RobOct 16, 2020Extremely pet friendly
Didn’t have great expectations considering it’s a collection of stores, however, I was wrong! Every store we went into was extremely friendly and accommodating. Several people asked if we needed water or anything for the pups which we didn’t because within minutes of arrival one of the staff members went and got 2 bottles of water and cups for our puppies to drink and would not allow us to pay for them. Several staff members asked if they could pet the dogs and would spend a couple of minutes with us. We’ve been places that will tolerate pets but these folks are welcoming. Will definitely shop those stores again!
- ZackariahJul 28, 2020Arcade
my dog loved the arcade lol as weird as it sounds. I guess it must of been all the lights but she was looking in every direction inside. it was Halloween so she was dressed like a bee. every store we went into she was allowed to. no dogs allowed in make up stores though including service dogs apparently because of allergy restrictions.
