Pet Friendly Assateague National Seashore
Assateague National Seashore Dogs are allowed on the beach along the Maryland portion of Assateague National Seashore, but are not permitted on the nature trails or anywhere within the Virginia portion of Assateague Island. Dogs must be on a six-foot leash at all times. See Details
Pet Friendly Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach
Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach Located off the perimeter trail in Downs Memorial Park, the Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach is a fantastic place for new dogs to learn to swim or veteran canine swimmers to enjoy some time in the water. Once you and your dog are done with the water fun, leash your pup up for a walk on the more than 5 miles of trails through the park. Downs Park is open 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to dusk. Matapeake Park Dog Beach Matapeake has a public beach with a clubhouse, and a nearby trail that winds around to the dog beach section. The trail itself is a nice short hike for the dog, yet is long enough that it’s adequately separated from the public areas. Dogs can run off leash, retrieve in the water, and sniff out the surroundings. See Details
Terrapin Nature Park This hidden gem of a park has unlikely access through an industrial/business area. The entrance is gained off Log Canoe Circle. Park in the parking lot and follow the trail. The trail winds around the 270-acre nature park through woodlands, marsh, and tidal ponds. Take one of the side trails off to the left to get to the beach that runs along the shore of the Chesapeake that allows dogs on a leash. The views of the Bay are great and the surroundings tranquil. The beach isn't huge, but Rover will love the romp. See Details
Ocean City Beach Ocean City Beach is pet-friendly. Dogs are only allowed on the beach and boardwalk between October 1 and April 30. Any handler or owner of a dog must remove any waste deposited on public or private property not owned by the handler or owner in possession of said dog. Also, dogs must be kept on a leash when being walked in and around Ocean City. See Details
Flag Ponds Nature Park Flag Ponds Nature Park is dog-friendly. Leashed dogs are welcome at this Natural Resources Park with a beach. For hundreds of years, the forces of nature have reshaped the Chesapeake Bay shoreline of Flag Ponds Nature Park, creating a remarkable variety of natural environments--from the sandy beach to freshwater ponds, to the forested heights of Calvert Cliffs. Today, nature continues to play with the sand, changing the park’s landscape with each tide, each storm, each season.

The park is open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday-Sunday 9am-8pm. Admission fees cost $5 in-county, or $8 out of county residents per vehicle.
