Veterans Memorial Park The dog-friendly Veterans Memorial Park in Hamilton, NJ, is a 333-acre park that was built in honor of Hamilton's veterans in 1977. Approximately four miles of walking trails are sprinkled through wooded areas, and there are more than two miles of paved bicycle trails, intermittent picnic grounds, rest stops, athletic fields, a large lake, huge tennis complex and a dog park. The dog park has a well maintained, fenced-in, off-leash play area. There is a separate enclosure for large and small dogs with double-entry gates. Both areas offer agility equipment and obstacle courses, benches, poop bags and trash receptacles. A doggie water fountain is just outside the dog park entrance. This park is a bird watchers paradise, with lots of interesting species to be discovered, including bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, marsh hawks, ospreys, great blue herons, swans, screech owls, great-horned owls, bluebirds, hummingbirds, and more. There are a number of hiking trails around the park that you and your pooch can explore together, such as sections of the Batona Trail, a 50-mile trail that connects three different state forests.
