For over 45 years, Canoe and Trail has guided thousands of people into Louisiana swamps and bayous surrounding New Orleans. They also offer "Twilight Paddle™and Moonlight Paddle™ series year round plus seasonal paddles and hikes around south Louisiana. Dogs are welcome to paddle and eat at Chimes, which is where the rentals depart from. Pretty Acres Dog Park Pretty Acres Dog Park is a much smaller and quieter park than its sister in Mandeville. The area is nicely maintained and offers the same amenities as the park in Mandeville but in a much more relaxed setting. It also has a nice concrete walking path - a perfect place to work on off-leash training and obedience. The Park is open from dawn to dusk daily. To access the park, go down 190, turn right onto Park Place Drive, and then right onto Andrews Street. The Park is on your left, before Tiger Avenue. Fontainebleau State Park Fontainebleau State Park is dog-friendly. Formerly the location of a sugar plantation in the mid-19th century, this 2,800-acre park can be found on the pretty shore of Lake Pontchartrain. There are a couple of trails dotted around the park that allow dogs to join their owners on a leash under six feet, including a 4.8-mile hiking trail and a nature trail that's just over a mile long, with signs to help you identify the different plants and trees. There are over 400 different species of birds and other animals that call the park their home. The nature trail is bordered on three sides by Lake Pontchartrain, Bayou Cane, and Bayou Castine.
