Fort Harrison State Park Fort Harrison State Park is dog-friendly. Formerly the site of Fort Benjamin Harrison, the park features
a Citizen's Military Training Camp, Civilian Conservation Corps camp, and a World War II prisoner of war camp. As well as being a wander back through time, there are plenty of trails you can actually wander on to enjoy the natural beauty of the park. Starting out at Delaware Lake picnic area and leading to Duck Pond, the easiest trail is the Harrison Trace Trail; at just over three miles in length on a flat asphalt surface it's ideal for any levels of walker. There are a number of moderate trails that weave around the wooded areas in the park, but the most difficult trail is Schoen Creek Trail. This hiking trail leads through prairies and grasslands. Dogs are welcome on all of the trails, as long as they are on a leash under six feet and you clean up any mess after them. The park is open every day of the week from 7am to 8pm.

Humane Society of Indianapolis Dog Park Central Indiana's first pet park is on the campus of the Humane Society of Indianapolis. The park is a place for owners to hang out with their pets in a safe, fenced area. Watch Rover romp through the canine agility course while you and your family relax at picnic tables. You can also hike through 1.5 miles of wooded trails. For membership, bring a copy of your pet's current vaccination records, including rabies, and fill out an application. Annual registration is $75 for your first dog and $50 for each additional. You will be given a key fob to the Pet Park, which allows you to use the park even if the shelter is closed.

Fort Harrison State Park Dog Park Fort Harrison State Park is the only state park in Indiana to offer a dog park due to its urban nature. The dog park is located on the north side of the state park. There are three fenced play areas without size restrictions. Platoon Run boasts 3.6 acres with large shade trees, a water station, benches, waste stations, agility equipment, a shelter, and even a fireplace. Herrin Hill is a 1.3-acre play area that is mostly open with shade, a water station, benches, and waste stations. Brigade Landing is open seasonally and offers 5 acres complete with a pond, dog beach, and a wooded area.
