Castle Rock and Sugarloaf Hill Trail is a moderately easy, 6.65 mile hike in Hudson Highlands State Park that will take about 3 hours to complete with Fido. Let your mind travel back in time to the late 1800s as you marvel at the private mansion that has over 34 rooms and four interior chimneys. The area around the mansion is private, so stick to the trail. Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 10 feet.

The Pelham Bay Park Dog Run is located in Pelham South, not far from the entrance at Middletown Road and Stadium Avenue. The Dog Run is one of the first dog runs to be built by the NYC Parks Department. Nearby, Orchard Beach is also a treat in the off-season, when strolling, biking or dog walking (on the promenade only from October 1 to May 1) are very popular.

Piermont Pier
This lovely spot was originally the eastern end of the Erie Railroad. Located in the Village of Piermont NY, the pier is open year round and is popular with dog walkers, joggers, birders and fisherman. The pier has a rich history. During WWII it was known as "Last Stop USA" because it served as the embarktation point for troops destined for the European theater. Today the pier offers spectacular views of the Hudson River. Especially handy for dog walkers are the scooper bags provided.

Leonia Dog Park/Lakeview Park
This is a lovely dog friendly park with 2 picnic tables under an awning. There is a large area including a hill. There is water access and a metal bowl. There seems to be a conflict with some neighbors as there are signs across the street in front of PVT homes stating "stop unleashed dogs in the park". As long as you go during posted hours and limit the dog barking there seems to be no conflict. Many nice dogs and owners!

One of the newest and most popular features in Goffle Brook Park is the Hawthorne Dog Run. The Hawthorne Dog Run allows dogs the opportunity to run leash-free in a safe and contained area and their owners the chance to relax and enjoy some quality time with their dogs. Leashed dogs are also allowed to walk with their owners in Goffle Brook Park, located along Goffle Road, this 103-acre park is adjacent to the Goffle Brook. The northern section contains a duck pond, which is stocked with trout for fishing during the summer. The southern section of the park contains numerous athletic fields, an accessible playground, and picnic areas. The park is open daily 9am - 9pm.

Fahnestock West Trail is a somewhat easy, 7.1 mile hike in Clarence Fahnestock State Park that will take about 4 hours to complete with Fido. If you are visiting this area in early June you will bear witness to the striking beauty of the mountain laurel in bloom. This beautiful hike is a favorite for canines year round with its freshwater ponds and brooks. When visiting with Fido be sure to keep him away from public use areas and on a leash no longer than 10 feet.

This Pocantico Hills non-profit farm and education center also houses the luxurious Blue Hill Farm restaurant. Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is a great place to bring the kids and leashed dogs. Tour this New York farm and see barnyard animals including pigs, chickens, and cows. Take a break to enjoy a yummy snack at the Cafe, with dog friendly outdoor seating. After a light lunch, take a a hike at the adjacent Rockefeller State Park Preserve.
Leashed dogs are welcome on the farm, but their owners must keep them away from the pastures, gardens, growing field and greenhouse. Ticketed admission on weekends.
*Must be respectful where your dog uses the bathroom. You don't want Fido peeing on the basil that you are going to be eating for lunch!
