Heritage Park The Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area is a great spot for your canine to enjoy! It is a 30-acre area with a fenced open space and a small pond. The off-leash area is accessible from all entrances of the park but is closest to the entrance at 16240 Lackman Road Please note that weekly maintenance closures are in effect. Maintenance will be scheduled for Tuesdays from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Closures are intended to allow for a higher level of maintenance to the area without compromising dog and patron safety. Located east of the observation tower on John Barkley Drive, the 53-acre off-leash area features a dog swim area along with wood chip and natural surface trails through grassland and wooded areas. The off-leash area also includes paved parking and portable toilets. Wyandotte County Lake Park Trails Starting right before Shelter 9 in a large wooded area on the east side of the lake, you will find the trailhead for the WyCo Single Track Trail. From the trailhead there are several options for trails, all interconnect with each other at points along the way and eventually loop back to the beginning. The trails are well marked and you'll find multiple maps along the way so you don't get lost. This is a popular fishing, picnic, and biking area so you will encounter much of this as you walk the trail around the lake.
