Located east of the observation tower on John Barkley Drive, the 53-acre off-leash area features a dog swim area along with wood chip and natural surface trails through grassland and wooded areas. The off-leash area also includes paved parking and portable toilets. The area is open year-round during regular park hours every day of the week from 6am to 8pm, except Tuesdays from 5am to 9pm for routine maintenance. See Details
Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area The Heritage Park Dog Off-Leash Area is a great spot for your canine to enjoy in Olathe, KS! It is a 30-acre area with a fenced open space and a small pond. The off-leash area is accessible from all entrances of the park but is closest to the entrance at 16240 Lackman Road. Please note that weekly maintenance closures are in effect. Maintenance will be scheduled for Tuesdays from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Closures are intended to allow for a higher level of maintenance to the area without compromising dog and patron safety. It is the largest park in the county and the most visited park in the entire state of Kansas. Its 53-acre off-leash dog park, one of the largest in the country, has hiking trails, large open spaces and a 200-foot dog beach. The park is also home to a number of fantastic amenities such as a beautiful 120-acre lake that's great for boating, fishing, sail boarding, and much more. There are 11 spacious shelters, numerous picnic areas, nature trails, play areas, an archery range, a disc golf course, and trails to enjoy mountain biking and horseback riding. The park is also home to The Theatre in the Park, Shawnee Mission Park Beach, and Shawnee Mission Park Marina. Waggin' Trail Waggin' Trail is an off-leash dog park, which features a large dog area and a small dog area. The park also boasts a walking trail, agility course, benches, two ADA water fountains, and three tunnel runs. Waggin' Trail is open from 6am to sunset or 9pm, whichever comes first.

Dogs must be on a leash when entering and exiting the off-leash dog areas. Dogs must be under voice control and in view of their handler at all times.
